This is both a very happy time and a very sad time at our house. The happy part comes from us getting ready to welcome 100 friends and family to Alicia's parents house to celebrate the upcoming marriage of Andrew (Alicia's brother) - it's a His & Hers shower that Alicia and her mom have been planning for months. So exciting!!! Meghan - the bride - is even flying out early and staying with us to help get the food and things ready. And her parents are even flying out to join us - it's going to be fun!! The sad part comes from the news that some people very dear to us are close to passing away. We have learned the man that married us, Elden, is very ill with cancer including tumors of the brain. The hospital sent him home last week to spend his last days with family in his own space. Alicia's grandfather on her dad's side fell very ill the week before last and suffered a series of strokes while in the hospital last week. We drove her father down on Thursday to see him - he too has been sent back to his home (he is in a very nice nursing home). We don't know how long he has, but it doesn't seem that he will be around for very much longer. In addition, we have learned Alicia's grandmother - also on her dad's side is in her final months as alzheimers has finally completely consumed her. So very sad.
