JOSEPH – A RASTA REGGAE FABLE

SYNOPSIS
JOSEPH is the story of a legendary Rasta-Reggae singer and his spiritual journey to find his cultural roots in Africa and assist the journey for his fellow Brothers and Sisters. He is helped by ASHANTI, a Rasta Sister; MIKEY, the ‘fire-bingi’ who is his best friend; ZULEIKA, a beautiful singer who loves JOSEPH; PETER, Ashanti’s King-man; SAM the American journalist who follows JOSEPH’s journey; and BUSHA, the white-Jamaican record Producer who makes JOSEPH a millionaire superstar.

MacMILLAN SERIES PREFACE
It is extraordinarily enlightening to read in Joseph – a Rasta Reggae Fable about the Rastafarian faith and way of life from the genuine insider’s point of view, as opposed to the often one-dimensional caricatures of Rastafari in other works.

In the persona of Sister Ashanti, Barbara Blake Hannah – Makeda Levi to her fellow Rastas – has written a novel which not only tells the gripping and highly dramatic story of a reggae superstar, but also explores and explains much of the Rasta reasoning and motivation which can appear mystifying to the unbeliever. Hannah writes in a lively colloquial style, freely but readably incorporating the unique Rasta use of language, and her characters are warmly drawn.
