A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JALLE GEBISA
Adventures in Zambia
From January 22, 2006 to April 22, 2008, I
will be serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer
(PCV) in Zambia.  As a Community-Based
Education Development Volunteer, my job
assignment will be to work on the "Learning
at Toanga Market" Project.  LTM is an
interactive radio instruction program for
elementary age children sponsored by the
Zambian Ministry of Education.  This program does not require a trained teacher or school building, but instead delivers basic education to Zambia's rural areas through fun and engaging national radio broacasts. My primary responsibility will be to promote this program of basic education in my community.  I will be developing "Center Support Committees" which support the informal rural "schools".  I will also help recruit and support "mentors",  volunteer "teachers" who facilitate the radio program in their community.
