Struggled with hamstring problems and illness and missed six games in 2000 and his absence was crucial in the result of a couple of games. A strong-marking full-back, Hay refuses to be intimidated and if he puts together a full season is likely to dominate. Has great pace and is good at setting up attack from defence. Finished equal seventh in the best and fairest.
