" A CHILD'S WINTER PLAY "
Soft flakes falling, light and gently, large and slow
Snowsuit, scarf, and mittens to keep away the cold
Each step promotes the imagination of walking on the moon
Not another footprint in sight; only those of your own

Sun sparkling brightly off the tiny, new-fallen flakes
Like little stars having landed; there for no one but me
Over boot-tops walking with 'giant' steps to the big roomy spot
Then turning and dropping, spreading arms and legs back and forth

Most carefully arising; not to disturb one segment of the design
And there, on the ground, the likeness of a small angel is found
Such delight; so exciting, this creation, in this world I call mine
A few more steps at a time, more angels to make; all of them mine

Knocking on the window, this splendor to share with family inside
For a smile of acknowledgement; that confirmation so gratifying
A bottle of colored water..now fulfilled with angel making..I had
Squirting carefully what I thought was my name, and many designs

Shaking the snow from the mittens, wrists stinging from the cold
Headed for the door; then a blunder, never forgotten...
Snow mounded fresh on the doorknob, tempting eagerly to taste
Ouch! Stuck, pulled, and bled; lovingly comforted,

.......................LORD, HELP ME!

......
.Lord, help me to be the best I can be
Counting on your power to sustain and charge me
Each needs improvement, not a one being perfect
Lead me now on the route that You desire me to grow

Lord, help me to be a good person to all

Not believing anyone on this earth is above or below me
Show me Your path to make relationships happy
To be one who loves, and can give of my talents

Lord, help me not to fall into dwelling in self-pity
No matter how bad, always someone suffers more
Aid me in putting negative energy to a positive use
Allowing time for my needs, but not to be consumed by them

Lord, help me to put my best effort into all that I do
Excellence not the goal; but my aim, self-improvement
This will take work on my part which I need to expend
In spite of Your miracles, we can't just sit and wait

Lord, help me to strive to live up to Your Word
Trying with all effort to be exactly like You
An impossible task, to achieve such a glory
But always working to improve; to please You, God Almighty!

WRITE A PERFECT SONG

I
f I could write a song with perfect melody
One that has a sound that draws every ear
I would choose my each word so very carefully
To describe that person who has changed my life

Far from what I imagined my nature to end up being
The road appears much shorter, with many joys in sight
Alone I cannot claim this grand victory or turnabout
Still, eager toward this courage; and the feelings now within

If I could write a song with perfect melody
One that has a sound that draws every ear
That song would be of praise, to the all deserving one
To resound the gratitude, owed solely to this cherished friend

Not each of my days, actions, or emotions coordinate in "my" plan
Once an obstinate creature, no direction or significance
Inner essence turning 'round; surprising interests in mind
My life itself becomes the song; being joyfully sung

If I could write a song with perfect melody
It could only be for Jesus, and the work He's done in me
Standing firmly by, through the most impossible struggles
Patiently enduring; in Him, by faith, my battles are all won!

...............................TURN IT AROUND

Can such anxiety ever be useful?
Or frustration for our betterment?
Does loneliness ever prove of true benefit?
Is anger capable of leading us properly?

Yes! Anxiety can encourage to eagerly desire;
Frustration urges to seek higher goals;
Loneliness produces an inner ache to advance;
Even anger pushes to remove obstacles, alter the state.

Take hold of these feelings; bind them tightly.
Draw them near; heeding the often subtle urgings.
Examine each; find that trigger to release.
Changing circumstances which activate non-productiveness.

Our life is our own; not cast in solid stone.
Mysteries and challenges; occasionally more of the old.
Enjoyment lies beyond this accustomed existence.
Cling to hope, reasonable goals; moving forward...
