...............................jake's
Poetry Spot!
I'm glad you came to view some of my works. I hope to offer a variety of my published and unpublished works for your enjoyment. As I am able, I will ad links to other writers sights, and links to help you to share your own talents.
.........................................[My works are protected by copyright...primarily from my book...(c) 1993]
Let me begin by showing you where it all got started by displaying the first two poems that I ever had published. When these succeeded, with the first being granted an "editor's choice award", I was given a great deal of encouragement to take it further. To date ,I have had thirteen poems published...by three separate publishers...in eleven different books; and have self-published a 157 page book with 83 poems. I am far from being an accomplished writer, but what this has done for my self-esteem is enough glory for me. I encourage anyone with a talent or desire to write to pursue it with zeal!
Not Special

Why is it that you miss my words?
They are not special stories.
I speak but what is in my head
To make you understand my feelings

Don't look upon me as having talent
My words just form in a different way
Where some may be eloquent in their speech
It's in the written word that my message comes

A great swimmer's not better than one who runs
The finest teacher overshadowing the imbecile
For each has an offering to bring to a group
Not a one should outshine the other

Enjoy my words as I write them to you
My main purpose is that to enlighten
Beyond gaining information about me or the system
Take these writings as my best communication

Take it and read it; learn what you can
I can only present you my best
But in addition to what I can offer as facts
Do not see what I write as being special.

PAIN

Reach down if you can
Touch the pain that we feel
It grabs hold of our being
With a clutch that's secure

A pain that cannot be described
By any words that we can express
Deeper than even our vocabulary goes
To the depths of the spirit of unrest.

An ache has arisen from these depths far below
That leaves anguish and grief in it's path
How can we elude this new suffering we feel?
The hurt is beyond what we contend to tolerate

To describe it is futile, as earlier said
Hanging on is excruciating at best
Where is there to go; what rest there to find
When we're weakened in our ability to maintain?
