Yaa'teeh, My name is Joshua John and I am going to school at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. My hometown is Shiprock, New Mexico. I'm studying physics at NAU.
This past summer I worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD through an internship sponsored through AISES.
I worked at NAU for the Nizhoni Academy summer program during the summer of 2003. I was an "office assistant" but actually, I was really an assistant to the program coordinator. It was the best job I have had yet. My supervisor is also a Christian and he is the best employer I have worked for.
The 2003-2004 year was interesting and busy. I rushed for Beta Sigma Epsilon (BSE), a Native American fraternity here at NAU in the Fall 2003. In the words of one of older brothers, "its fun but a lot of work.." became true as Loren and I pledged for BSE. My fraternity brothers have become very close to me and most likely will remain life-long friends. Right now, we're in the process of establishing ourselves as an official fraternity at NAU and increasing our membership..
Being a member of BSE is a rewarding experience. Although personal sacrifices are involved (less sleep, working every day, having to miss other aspects of your personal life to commit to the fraternity), it is well worth it because you are not alone. Your brothers will always be there at your side, willing to support you and you supporting them. We are looking for potential members who are willing to sacrifice time, sleep, etc in order to help us get our fraternity started. I never thought of myself joining a fraternity; I am not a party-goer, drinker, or the typical frat boy image. One of my characteristics is that I will be intensely loyal to a group and I enjoy the feeling of comradie. I guess this is why I am drawned towards the fraternity and the military life. Well, thats been my semester and I will have more on it later on as time goes on....See you later. |
