Swat the ancient Udyana, the land of foresty, fruits and flowers, has the honour of having had links with the old world through the visits to and conquest of this fascinating valley by the Greeks, Scythians, Parthians, Khushans, Sassanians and Maurians in different periods of history.

It was perhaps this affinity with the ancient work of learning that "Mr.Miangul Abdul Haq Jahanzeb", the former ruler of Swat valley. State thought of establishing a seat of learning at Saidu Sharif. This love for education blossomed in the stately form of "Jahanzeb College" in 1952. which mainfest fully his love and respect for the cause of Education. He also tried to provide all possible facilities to the people of Swat in the fields of health and communication during his reign from 12th of December, 1949 to July, 1969.
