Jaguar History

Jaguar Cars were not always Jaguars, they were started off by two young men in Blackpool, William Lyons and William Wasley who were both very keen motor cycle enthusiasts, so with a little help from their fathers they decided to open their own business called Swallow Sidecars, they specialized in aluminum cased motorcycles that took the British by storm.

Their sidecars soon were in so much demand the two Williams moved out of their back sheds and into a very large factory.

Then a few years down the track they decided to dedicate their profits into making cars as well. Soon they became very successful and changed their business to just cars and became the most competitive car prices in the world with their luxury feel including leather seats and walnut veneer dashboard, making them cheap but classy at the same time.

Because they made only two seated cars they were very popular with the youth and newly weds travelling around the country.

They then changed their name from swallow sidecars to S.S

The name was soon changed again when the war came and the Germans called themselves S.S and that is were the name Jaguar finally came into place.

Throughout the war Jaguar  stopped production and helped repair aircraft.

Soon after,  William Wasley decided to leave the company into William Lyons hands.

And Jaguar became one of the worlds most valuable luxury cars. Making many different models for the changing public.

Now Jaguars don’t only look classy from the inside, the exterior has made Jaguar so easily spotted by anyone even if they aren’t into cars.

From the beginning William Lyons designed curves and bumps that make Jaguar so individual.  The designing of Jaguars haven’t changed to this day they are still as remarkable inside as out with the latest technology including satellite tracking systems and inbuilt mobile phones.

Jaguars have also been very much into performance this had made one of their cars be listed in the Guinness book of records for the fastest road cars in the world.

They have always been into racing as well, doing extremely well in the 24 hour Le Mans races. Come 1st 2nd and 3rd one year

and for the 3rd year running starting tomorrow the Formula 1 Grand Prix with racers including Eddie Irvine who came 3rd for Jaguar in one race last year.

Jaguars are now owned by FORD which means jaguar have more money for research and development which leads to better technology and advanced performance the F1’s can test out before they come into the market.
