Welcome to Shi'Iana : a FF7 Freak Case Study! Let me introduce to you, Shi'Iana, one of my dearest friends, who can also be found at my Peanut Gallery and is, as you can see, a TOTAL NUT about FF 7. It is her life, her joy and other what-not. Here, you will see a case study of a TRUE FF7 NUT....

1.
Doesn't cry anymore when she watches Aeris die 
Case Study
This is true. She told me she cried when Aeris died for the first time in her computer. For chrissakes we actually watched Aeris die on New Year's Day, at 2 a.m.!! Morbid, huh? She just REALLY wanted to show me the City of the Ancients. We had little fascination in the lack of Aeris' blood when she was stabbed.

 Calls us up to tell us about something new she found in FF7
   Case Study
I had just finished reading a script for the Icicle Inn videos (you know, the ones featuring Aeris' mom and dad) and the next few minutes, she calls me up just to tell me about it. "Hey, I found something new!" "Oh?" "Some videos in Icicle Inn with Ifalna and Gast in it. Wanna hear me read them to you?" Gosh, do we spend a lot on phone bills in my house! She called me up when she discovered the guy in Rocket Town that's STILL in the toilet throughout Disc One, Two and Three.

Jumps with GLEE when she hears something bad happening to Zack
Case Study 
This is an inexplicable phenomenom which, I hear, afflicts some people. They just hate Zack, or Cloud, or Sephiroth, or....etc.... but when you ask them WHY, they just say... I DON'T KNOW! Quote from Shi'Iana : "I don't know! I just don't like him!!" We say : "But Cloud is like Zack!" Shi'Iana : "Yah! I know! I don't like him either!!" We say : "But Zack was Aeris' boyfriend!" Shi'Iana : "So? That doesn't mean I have to like him!" And mind you, Aeris is her favourite female character. Whom she prefers pairing up with Cloud. I read Frank Verderosa's Mind Slayers, where at the end Zack decides to stay back at the Cetra planet, and when I told her, "Zack got left behind on the other planet they visited", she grinned and jumped, clapping her hands with delight. (YOU DID TOO, SHI'IANA!!!)

 
4.
 Gets really, really, really frustrated when a battle doesn't go her way
  Case Study
What is there to say? She actually sulks. "What's wrong with you?" we ask. "Awh.... I didn't win!" she replies.

 
5.
Almost CRIES when a particularly important battle doesn't go her way
Case Study
Just the other day, I was in the toilet when she called. My brother told me, "She wants you to call her back." I said, "Okay." He said, "You better. Sounds bad." huh? "Sounds like she's in tears over something." I went, oh, no, did she get into a fight with her parents or something? I call her, only to have her yelling to my ear, almost tearfully, "I NEARLY DEFEATED RUBY!!!! I ALMOST DEFEATED RUBY!!! NOT FAIR!! I  NEARLY WON THAT TIME!!! I ALMOST!!! Urrgggghhh!!!!" 
......, right? 
So, in any case, I asked her, "Well, this battle isn't going to dictate your life, right?" to which she replied, "No, but..... it's still kinda important... IT'S RUBY WEAPON!!!!" 
Good grief!

 
6.
 Calls us up to tell us which town she just went to.
Case Study
"Guess what? I'm in Rocket Town now!" she said brightly one fine evening. "We're talking to Shera.... (repeats what Shera said to Cloud, which included, 'oh and please take care of the Captain' or something like that) and now we're going...." *sigh*

 
7.
Tells us where she is currently/is going/has just been to whenever we have a normal, ordinary conversation
Case Study
Here I am, discussing the latest news in school with her, when as usual, our topic becomes FF7. And she tells me, "Come over someday, and I'll show you. I'm on my way to the Northern Crater around now, you know." 

 
8.
Can tell us AAAALLLLLL about the usual FMV sequences, and recite the dialogues
Case Study
Take, for instance, the time Cloud and Tifa were in the Lifestream. I have this little carpet at home which she improvised and she repeated every single dialogue that goes on, the different options and so on, so forth. She told me and Jac'Kee about the truck which stopped in Nibelheim, how many people came out, what happened, so on, so forth. She told us about Zack and Cloud escaping Hojo's laboratory, and how Zack died, and then how Cloud took Zack's sword, and went.... What was it, Jac'Kee? How did our fine friend explain it? Oh yeah, Cloud went something like (goes into some sort of pose) "waaa...." *rubs temples wearily* I can't explain it. You've got to see it for yourself!
Also, the time she was showing us how Sephiroth killed Aeris. I, particularly, was seated in a chair, asking her why people liked to pair Sephiroth with Aeris. And she replies, "Well, he killed her." I go, "..." and ask, " He KILLED HER??" And she said, "Yeah!" (made stabbing motion with both hands) "Like that!"
Seriously, that disturbed me... A LOT.

 
9.
Actually feels the pain of the characters in battle
Case Study
Imagine this.... I was listening to her over the phone while she was battling Seraph-Sephiroth and while I was listening to the little "deet deet deet" of her computer and the One Winged Angel music, I heard her say "ouch!" 
At first, I thought that she had hit herself.... then I remember.... she's fighting SEPHIROTH.... yeah... musta been ouch, considering he'd cast Pale Horse followed by Supernova. 
Ouch, Shi'Iana. Ouch. Poooor Red XIII. 

 
10.
Is currently on a Kill-Sephiroth-Marathon
Case Study
From this day (May 11th) she fully intends to play the part where she kills Sephiroth over and over and over and over and over again until she's killed Sephiroth with a 100 times straight win. I'm not sure what's her obsession with killing Sephiroth, especially considering he's her favourite villain. She's not too interested with killing Jenova (she killed Jenova in one minute flat the other day) but Sephiroth seems to be holding her focus of attention for a while. Until she kills Sephiroth 100 times, I don't think I can get anything new out of her for a while. Oh man. How crazy can these FF7 freaks get??


 


Shi'Iana : So much like Tifa
I have no idea why she doesn't like Tifa, OK? But in many ways, she is just like Tifa. She's got a nice, bright, optimistic point of view (which gets a little downturned when her parents are around) and she's just as tough as Tif. In fact, I call her Tifa occasionally, which makes her wanna break my arm. (She's very good at breaking arms. That's why I tend to tip-toe around her.) 
I'm not saying that Shi'Iana mixes drinks and has a bar, but she's got a good swing! I don't see Tifa as delicate as Aeris, and Shi'Iana's very strong-boned. If we dressed her up as Tifa, and had her grow her hair longer (Would you believe she's NEVER tied her hair up in her entire LIFE?) and ta-da! Tifa Lockhart! Oh, sorry, Tifa Leonghart.
