The Story of How Kyoto Helped a Lonely Beaver |
By The Jaffa Fairy |
It was a bright sunny day in anime land and Kyoto was practising fly-kwan-do under the leafy protection of the forest. |
"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii-yah" Kyoto screamed in his cat-voice as he executed various high kicks. "Splaaaaaaaaaaat, take that, and that and THAT!" |
Suddenly Kyoto was interrupted in his interpretation of the ancient fly-swatting martial art by a shrill cry. |
"Hellllllllllllllllllllp! Oh hellllllllllllllllllp me" pleaded a voice. |
As a good cat-scout, Kyoto immediately rushed to the river, from whence the fearful pleas were emitted. |
And lo! There, being turned miserably in circles by the eddies of the current, on a log ? sat a very small, very upset, very tear-streaked beaver. |
"Hellllp" She sniffed. "I was chewing this log when it fell loose from my dam and I was fatally washed miles and miles downstream from my comfy home" |
And though Kyoto felt this was quite a pessimistic and self-pitying tone to take, he replied- |
"Wait there; I?ll fetch some rope." And off he scampered to the Red Goddess, who often kept large quantities of rope for use by her minions Fantasy and Nightmare. |
Soon Kyoto returned, a long piece of rope clamped in his tiny cat ?fangs. He tossed it out to this miserable beaver who grabbed it readily with her paws and was swiftly pulled to shore. |
"Oh, thank you, Thank you" She cried, "I thought I would be on that log forever. Oh that evil man!" |
"What evil man?" Kyoto asked |
"It must have been him, a man with a big head like a duck egg. He?s been hanging round my damn for weeks ? he must have sabotaged it while I wasn?t looking" |
"Well never mind" Kyoto comforted the soggy, sad creature " You?re here now. Say ? do you want to be my new best friend?" |
And at that the beaver smiled a toothy smile, the first Kyoto had seen from her. |
"Sure! But what happened to your old best friend?" |
At this Kyoto?s cat-eyes narrowed "We don?t talk about him. What?s your name?" |
"Snagglepuss" |
And so Kyoto and his new best friend, Snagglepuss played all day in the sunny forest. And when the day ended Snagglepuss followed Kyoto back to his cat-cave where she made herself a neat and tidy beaver-bed where she slept from that day forth. |
And so that is the story of how Kyoto helped a lonely beaver ? and made himself a new best friend. |
