Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite of the series, with Goblet of Fire a close second. I love some of the new characters in Order of the Phoenix, like Tonks, and I'm glad Remus comes back as well. But I can't stand the new DADA teacher or how Harry acts, but I guess a lot of 15 year old boys act that way, so I'll let him slide. I guess I both love and hate it then.
Favorite fanfiction about the series
Written mostly in email form, this story is hilarious. I just couldn't stop reading it. Despite it's title, the nudity is not graphic and won't offend anyone. The rating is for the language, 'cause some of the characters get all fired up. Just amazing overall.
The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot
I love this whole series. Not a whole lot like the movies, which are cute, but the books are so much more fun and witty. I can't pick a favorite out of these, but check them all out here. In fact, I love all of Meg Cabot's books.
Sunshine by Robin McKinley
This book totally blew me away. I really don't want to say a lot about this book, since it has so many surprises. I just recommend you pick it up, don't read the flaps, and start reading. I really hope she writes a sequel.
The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley
Written back in the 1980's, I found this book when I was in junior high. I've lost track how many times I reread it since then. Another amazing book about a solid female hero that will keep you mesmerized.
The Hero and The Crown by Robin McKinley
A prequel of The Blue Sword, another great story. Winner of the Newbary award. I like both books and can't decide which I like more. I've also reread this one several times as well.
