After the invasion, the lies of the US administration about weapons of mass destruction and Hussein's ties with Al Qaida were replaced by other lies: liberation, reconstruction, security, democratization. However, the reality was something else. Since 2003, US bombs have killed 100 000 civilians. The US has also imprisoned thousands of people and subjected them to systematic humiliation and torture.
Sadly enough, and for reasons we would hope are beyond our control and fall into the coercive economic power of the US over Canada and many other nations, there is a backdoor support for this terrorism the US is inflicting on Iraq right from our own beautiful country.
In spite of its refusal to participate in the invasion of Iraq, Canada is a firm ally of the US in their "war on terror". The Liberal overnment supports US policy in the region by its participation in the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan thus freeing US forces for Iraq. Canada is also sending 30 police and troup trainers to Jordan to train the same Iraqi forces that will enforce the occupation. This is the thin edge of the wedge. The government of Canada is providing support for this occupation.
The private sector of Canada is supporting the ocupation as well. For example, Canadian company SNC-Lavalin continues to sell war material to the American war machine, including providing billions of bullets to the US occupiers.
Also, as a part of the overall contribution to the war on teror, racist attacks, detention and deportation specifically against people of Muslim and Arab backgrounds are still all too frequent in Canada,
