What Can You do?

Over the past 2 years, the peace movement in canada has shown its STRENGTH to oppose militarism and war. Hundreds of organizations working on different campaigns have come together to create a UNIFIED VOICE FOR PEACE. We marched in the hundreds of thousands to stop Canadian participation in the war. Recently we coordinated actions in more than 25 cities and towns to coincide with the visit of George W. Bush to Ottawa and to Halifax. On less than 2 weeks notice thousands mobilized to send a strong message to Paul Martin that we do not want the government of Canada to sign on to the militaristic policies of George W. Bush. In Ottawa, 15 000- 20 000 marched and in Halifax 5 000-8 000 people came out to the largest demonstration in recent history that was coordinated in 5 days.

We are not powerless and shall do our duty as Canadians to call for peace and end this senseless bloodshed.

We have also won a victory by forcing the government of Canada to say no to the US ballistic missile defence scheme. Again, the Peace movement was able to mobilize support and stop the Liberals from supporting US militarism....Way to go Canada!

One of the most important things we can do to end the suffering of our brothers and sisters of this earth is to support US war resisters coming to Canada refusing to fight the war in Iraq. We can open up a northern front on Bush's war and literally sap his ability to wage further wars if the government allows the resisters to stay.
