Anakin Skywalker is the one who will tie the entire saga together. The main character in Episode I to one of the most monstrous characters in Episode VI. He is the Chosen One, a child of conceived by the Midi-Chlorians to bring balance to the Force.

Raised on the desert planet of Tatooine, Anakin was a slave to a junkyard keeper named Watto. He lived with his mother and played with his best friend, Kitster when he had the time. Young Anakin was fairly adept at piloting and putting parts together, which was probably the reason why he was such a valuable slave.

His high Midi-Chlorian count astonished most of the Jedi and with the help of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Council was convinced to take him in and train him as a Jedi.
At the age of nine, he was already a hero and was even beginning to take his first steps towards being a player when he laid eyes on Padme. Though of course, the relationship the two have was more then just appearance. Anakin took comfort in Padme's presence and fought for her.

Though the relationship was doomed from the start due to Anakin's role in the Prophecy. He was meant to balance the Force, but the Jedi Council never knew what sort of balance the Force required. One even after another, his mother's death, his accident which eventually turned him into a machine, led Anakin to the dark side.

For two decades Anakin became buried behind a mask. He hid his true self and became Darth Vader, a half man, half machine who had little sentiment and like a machine he carried out his Master's wishes until finally one day he learned of son's existence and was given something to fight for. At the end, Darth Vader realized his true self and became Anakin Skywalker again, but the price he paid for his son's life was high.

Taking off his mask, Anakin was able to see his son's face, he was able to see himself in Luke knowing that Luke was what he could have become. Dying in his son's arms, Anakin rejoined his friends in the afterlife and watched over Luke with contentment.
