A BRAZEN CHALLENGE to our peace and security!

Dear Neighbor,

Some elements are deliberately trying to destroy peace in this region. These enemies of the community must be identified and resisted strongly.

We are NOT alone. The police, the peoples' representatives and other civic organizations are firmly behind us. If necessary the fight will have to be intensified and we are well prepared to do that. But we must absolutely remain united against this latest attempt to destroy our beautiful neighborhood.

This you may have noticed - a completely illegal structure, which used to serve as a temporary kite stall during pujas has all of a sudden become a full-fledged Travel Agency! What next - a bus service, then hotels? Where did they get electricity if not without insider help? The enemy within, or the enemy without - we must tackle both. If we do not STOP this encroachment NOW, our locality will be flooded with hundreds of such structures within a year!

Do we really, really want that? Do we really wish to bring the camel in? And return to that polluted, insecure hell of yester years, when goons used to rule the locality? Of course not, not after all these months of tireless effort. This latest effort to destabilize our place of residence must not be allowed to succeed. No body will do this for us, unless we are personally involved. 50 can easily do what is difficult for 5.

There is no reason to imagine that the evils of pollution - social or environmental, will affect some of us lightly. This poison, in the end, will spread evenly. Sorry, but the truth is -"We are in the same boat neighbor!" Either we stand united, or not at all - and give up our claims to independence, self-respect, and civilized way of life. The enemy is weak now; let us be prepared for the day he returns. As of now, he is testing waters with that illegal stall.
