Why do I keep getting disconnected?   Karen
The two major reasons are phone lines or your provider.  This doesn't happen with cable or DSL lines as often, and if you have a dedicated connection, call your provider.  Otherwise, it means that either your ISP has a timeout so they only let you stay on for so many hours before cutting you off OR the phone lines in your area are too weak to keep the signal going.  To be sure it's not your computer, Click My Computer, Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections and look under the Settings or Advanced Options.  Set your idle timeout to 59 minutes and click Apply, Ok.
How do I add a website to my favorites?  Liz
Just follow these simple instructions:
Go online and go to the website that you want to save.  Then click Favorites at the top of your screen.  Click Add To Favorites.  You can name it whatever you want (like Jack The Pug) and save it so you can view it without going on the Internet by clicking Make Available in Offline Mode.  Then Click OK.
How do I send pictures through e-mail?  Laura
First you need to save the picture somewhere on your computer.  Then write down where you saved it.  Next, go online and open your e-mail program.  Click on Compose or New Message.  Then click on Insert.  It will ask you where you saved the picture.  Click or type in the file name and then click OK.  You can still type a message in the e-mail, like "Picture of Jack cleaning the keyboard".  Then click Send.
Do I really need Virus Protection? Carl
For those of us who are gainfully unemployed and can't afford to repair or replace their people's computers because of a virus attack, it is vital to have Virus Protection.  Even your best friends can send you a virus, like the worm, without even realizing it.  And chances are, if you have an older computer then somewhere down the dog path, you're going to have to download some upgrades from the Internet.  Without Virus Protection, you're leaving your computer wide open to attacks.  You may even contract a virus from a Floppy Disk you borrow from someone.  The best defense is common sense, and a good virus program.  Before you decide on what to buy, ask your friends, the neighborhood geeks, and check out the TechTV (formerly ZDTV) virus info at their website (located on my links page).  Read on for more info on how to help your computer.
