There have been rumors of a new Best of Great White CD. Most people know that Portrait Records have plans on putting out a "Latest and Greatest" with such classics as Once Bitten, Twice Shy, Rock Me, Lady Red Light, along with a live version of The Angel Song, and according to Jack Russell, Wasted Rock Ranger will also be included.
But it seems that Capital Records may have noticed that there is still a demand for Great White, and are trying to cash in on the band they dropped so long ago.
I give you, EMI, Capital Musics "The Best of Great White." An attempt to make money off of their mistake of almost eight years ago. The CD features songs from Recovery Live, Shot in the Dark, Once Bitten, ...Twice Shy, Hooked, and Psycho City; along with a previously unreleased song. Here is the track listing.
Yes, I know that everyone has 9 out of these 10 songs, and that is the kicker. The bastards throw in the MTV version of Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You damn well knowing that there is a group of hard core fans out there who are going to buy this CD just for that song. If there was no chance of me getting my ass busted by the slobs at Capitol, I would have offered to make an MP3 file, but sorry, not going to take that chance, so PLEASE don't ask me to.
On the up side, the sellection of songs is rather good. The Angel Song, Save Your Love, and Babe, back to back to back flow rather nice, and the three sound rather good together. Another bonus is that the asses at Capitol, are only charging $9.99 for the CD.
To finish, is it worth having? For the hard core Great White fan, yes; but to the casual GW fan, is it worth 10 bucks for one song? That is up to them. But when push comes to shove, this is Great White after all; but just to bad that the slime over at Captitol is making the money here.
