I believe this can be achieved with a good attitude and the desire to teach every child that
walts through my classroom door. I have to be an effective teacher.
My definition of effective teaching includes teaching without judgment or prejudive to
ensure that all of my students receive n equal opportunity to learn. It means teaching in a
manner that will help my studends not only learn the material taught in class but to apply it in
their everyday lives. It is showing my students the importance of the material being taught.
With mathematis as my content area, ensuring that math is understood at a level where it can
be applied in everday life is a must.
In order to do this, I can not be a lecturer but an individual who guides my students
to discover and understand material by reaching their intelligences through hands-on projects.
Math is a subject that not only deals with numbers, but it helps build problem solving skills.
It helps build an inderstand abstract ideas. It is necessary to be successful in life. All this
can be achieved by using the teaching methods that have been taught to me, and by using
processes and procdures that have been shown to be effective for helping students by
research and past experiences.
