| This was shown on the Encore Channel and will probably repeat for awhile. I know that this wasn't completely about Jackie, but it was very informative to how the art came about. This talks about the Chinese Opera schools and shows some scenes from Farewell my Concubine and Painted Faces (the one that Samo Hung plays the master), most of the scene dealing with the punishments that the students went through. There are a few interviews with Jackie (I heard that they were taken from Jackie Chan: My Stunts, but have yet to see that one) as well as a few old ones with Bruce Lee and other stars.. Tons of rare footage and some scenes of an opera performance. I wish that there would have been more scenes from Jackie's earlier films when he was struggling to become a star. Especially since he had such a big part in it. Great to watch if you love martial arts and are interested in some of the history. If you want to just see it for Jackie..well, it's up to you. 8/10 |
