VCD Review
I watched this as soon as I found out that it's release date had changed, again. I was told that it was very different from his other movies, and it was; in a very good way! I was impressed--I still am.
I didn't know what to expect from this movie and it kept me guessing right until the end! Accidental Spy is more like a regular movie--not focussing mainly on stunts and more serious. Don't get me wrong, this is no bad thing! And there is plently of comedy.
Jackie plays plenty of roles where he is a normal person who gets thrown into the middle of something, in this case a robbery. He seemed even more like a normal guy, like this whole thing could happen to anyone. Hard to explain...
When I watched this the first time, I hardly wanted to take a break. After I finished I didn't really think that this would be a movie that I would rewatch many times, but another viewing proved me wrong. I enjoyed it just as much the second time!
A few notes on the scenes:
Turkish Bath scene: If you have done any research on this movie, you should know about this scene! Jackie is running from a bath house being chased by the bad guys, his towel falls off and he proceeds to run through the market without it using various objects to cover himself and doing a good job (too good of one) of it! So much fun! I hope this stays in the US version!
The final scenes involves a tanker that caught on fire and it can't slow down or else the fire will come forward and the truck will explode. Reminded me of the movie Speed. Jackie had to try to get the driver, his wife and son out while it was still moving.
I felt sorry for Jackie! At the beginning he worked as a salesman for weight equipment and he was showing how all these different things worked and the people didn't even buy anything! He also wore glasses briefly! Looks funny on him.
I can see why the Anthrax II mentions are being renamed in the US release. If they didn't involve terrorism and killing millions, they might have been left in.
Also, when the clocktower (I think that was what it was) was dinging noon, I thought I heard an echo, so I turned the sound down. My chiming clock in the hallway was dinging midnight at the same time!!
There were translations for the outtakes! In the end it is left wide open for a sequel! If there ever is one, I wonder what he will do to try to top the Turkish Bath Scene!
Score 9/10 (If you haven't seen it, buy the VCD, it is worth it!
