Part 2 By Rick ([email protected]) Jen too was impressed with Todd. Jack, Jen, and Todd met at lunch and mostly talked about him and his past. "I detect an accent. Where are you from originally?" asked Jen. "I moved to California when I was 15 from Manchester, England." answered Todd. "England! Wow, big move. Must of been rough leaving all your friends and family," said Jen. "Hahahahaha, what friends? I wasn't at all liked. Actually, I think moving was one of the best things that could ever happened," corrected Todd. They fell into dull silence until Todd broke the ice by asking, "So are you Jack best friends or something?" "Yeah, Jack's the only one I can trust not to hit on me!" They talked some more and Jack felt a little disappointment when Todd checked his watch and said, "Oh darn, gotta go the principle or head teacher. Wants to see how I settled in. Thanks for letting me sit with you guys. Bye." He gave them another prize-winning smile and left. "Well, Jack it seems you have a crush on someone!" said Jen after school that day in Jack's room. "Who? Who?" asked Andie with some sort of excitement in her voice. "This new kid Todd has Jack transfixed," laughed Jen. "That is not true. Anyway, we don't even know if he's gay or not," said Jack who hesitated round the G word as if it was dirty. "Wait does this guy have brown hair and green eyes that look like they could saw a branch in half?" said Andie. "Yep," chimed Jack and Jen. "Well, I saw himchecking out the cheerleading squad. Sorry, Jack," said Andie not as excited anymore. There was a knock at the door. While Andie went to see who it was, Jen asked if Jack was okay. Of course he had said. He was fine, but you could tell he was a little dismayed by Andie's news. That was until Todd walked through the bedroom door with Andie. "Hey guys!" he said. "H...h....hi. How did you know were I lived?" asked Jack a little surprised. "There aren't many McPhees' in the phone book. Why? Do you want me to go?" asked Todd now looking very worried. "No, no, its great that your here!" said Jack maybe sounding a little too happy. After staying for dinner, which consisted just of the four of them as Mr. McPhee was away on business, they decided to play spin the bottle an idea brought on by Andie and Jen. "This game is cheesy," Jack complained as the bottle landed on him for the first time. So far Jack had kissed Jen twice, Andie once, and Todd hadn't kissed anyone. Jack spun the bottle and became embarrassed when it landed on Todd. Jack quickly went for the bottle to spin it again, but Todd stopped him. "Hey aren't I supposed to kiss you?" he asked, and before Jack could say anything, Todd pressed his lips upon Jack's and kissed him. Jack pulled away, a little confused. Was this a joke? Was this some prank one of the other kids made him do? Jack tried not to, but couldn't stop himself from crying from the betrayal and left the room. |
