Todd found Jack on the back step of his house, crying softly. Todd wasn't too sure what he had done so wrong, but it seemed he had.
"Jack what's wrong?" he asked timidly.
Jack turned his head away and said, "I thought you were my friend."
Todd was a little shocked and said, "I am. What made you think I'm not?"
Jack whipped round and shouted, "By making fun of me!"
"Jack, kissing you is not making fun of you," said Todd trying his best not to upset Jack even more than he had.
"Look, I know you're not gay. Andie told me she saw you checking out the cheerleaders so why don't you just leave me alone. You've done your damage!" Jack shouted furiously.
Todd smiled gently and sat down next to him, putting his hand on Jack's and said, "Jack, I'm bi."
Jack stared at Todd trying to see if he was lying or not. "Really?" Jack said through meek tears.
"Yes, and I do like you," whispered Todd. He was gently rubbing Jack's arm. "I know you have great conflict, Jack, about your sexuality, and I'm guessing, before me, there has been a guy in your life," said Todd, now talking gently but not whispering.
"Yeah, his name was Ethan. He dumped me for his ex because I wouldn't kiss
him," replied Jack and then he told the whole story of how he and Ethan met right up to the point of Jack kissing him.
"Ouch! Sounds like you had a rough time of it, but this guy Ethan sounds like an asshole to me. I mean if he wasn't ready to give you time, if he wasn't man enough to work on the relationship, then he isn't worth bothering about."
The next day after school, Jack gave Todd a tour of Capeside. He also introduced him to Dawson, Pacey, Joey and his father. Jack loved spending time with Todd. Each moment of everyday he thought about him, but he wasn't exactly sure what they were. Were they just really good friends that kissed occasionally in private or were they actually boyfriends? He didn't know, he just didn't know.
