AD&D Lycanthrope Templates I've made some of my own lycanthropes. The way these work are as the same as the ones explained in the Monster Manuel 3.5. addded my own things to them, as well as adopted Sean K. Renolds form that treats lycanthropy as a class/template rather than a template. He writes the Savage Progressions on the AD&D site. When I first joined the D&D rpg game, i made Jaeger; a half-elf ranger werewolf. Before i read Savage Progressions, my character at first level would have had a Hit Points of 36, then 54 hp at the level 2. The way Renolds made it was so instead of getting oodles of fantastic powers, you gain them bit by bit. Anyway, here is a rule i made up: natural-born lycanthropes dont have to be the alignment of their type (for example; wererats are lawful evil- a natural born can be of good or neutral alignment- but to make it interesting, keep him/her lawful.) I also have declared afflicted lycanthropes with a neutral alignment (plain neutral only, like weretigers) can change it to neutral evil or neutral good. Another rule is that if someone becomes a lycanthrope and they find out, they can roll a 20-sided die (DC 13) to see if they've got some prejudice against that animal. What i mean by this is that all animals are neutral, but certain people might percieve them in a certain light- like some people understand wolves (like me!) and accept them, while others fear and hate them. Anywho, thats my little speech: click on the links to take you to the lycanthrope of yo' choice. Here are two reasons (character-wise) to go along with using these templates: 1> he/she is a natural lycanthrope, but is young for her race (and hasnt fully developed their powers due to the young age) 2> he/she is an afflicted lycanthrope, but wants to subdue their powers until they can feel they can control themselves. |
