Very Important-This Diet is Personal to me and me alone. You should ask your doctor and go to a Dietician to get one that fits you and your diabetes. Every Person is Different in what they can eat with Diabetes and keep their blood sugar under control.Below the table are the reasons that I eat what I eat. I try and keep the carbohydrate count down to 45g of carbs per meal. Whole Wheat Bread has lots of fiber in it, so the fiber works to counteract the carbohydrates(about 12-14g per slice) in the bread. Plain white bread doesn't have this fiber so that is why I don't eat any of it. Peanuts have no carbohydrates, just protien and monosaturated fat. Monosaturated fat is good for your heart and with diabetes this is very important.Ketchup does have corn syrup in it and you should avoid anything with corn syrup in it, because corn has a tendency to convert straight to sugar, but tomatoes have fiber in them like whole wheat bread and lycopene which is good for the heart so it is a "free" food. Another words I can have as much ketchup as I want. If you have any questions, feel free to email me anytime.
