One of the main reasons this song didn't make the cut was simply because it is still extremely new. A lot of people have yet to hear this song, released on the disc Be As You Are just mere weeks before Valentine's Day. However, it merited mention because it's a very...well, sexy love song. If there's one thing that seems to always draw people in, it is rain. Some would argue that the most passionate kisses you'll ever have come when you're standing outside and the rain's pouring down. Kenny got it right...there definitely is something sexy about the rain.
Bebo is an amazing songwriter. Most of the time, he isn't writing about love. But every so often, he chooses to write about love. And when he does, a song like this pops up. A bit more upbeat than a lot of love songs out there, it is no less great than any other song out there. Bebo writes lyrics of dedication, declaring how lost he would be without this love. And it is this sentiment that should shine through in every loving relationship. Bebo captures it quite nicely.
Keith Urban has a way with the ladies. He's attractive, he's got a hot Aussie accent and...he sings country? Yes, apparently the combination works quite well. Of course, writing lyrics about loving "somebody like you" (A pretty vague description that surely allows every woman to feel as though Urban is speaking directly to her) hardly hurts. This song is pretty simple. Keith justs want to love somebody. Simple as that. And it is that simplicity that shapes this song and just makes it work.

This is one of those love songs that tends to slip through the cracks quite easily. The only song that most people will ever remember Blessid Union Of Souls for is Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me). This is the perfect example of a great song that radio completely missed. This is a love song about undying devotion. The song is somewhat based on the old cliche that "If you really love something, let it go." Though it is tough to let go, sometimes it's nevcessary...but that doesn't mean that one is giving up. Undying devotion does just that...it doesn't die, no matter what. That's the message behind this song.
A love song in it's own right, Somewhere Out There deserved mention first because of it's immense popularity, but secondly and more importantly because of it's lyrics. It's a song about searching for that special someone. They are out there...somewhere. Sometimes the search is difficult, but, in the end, it's so very worth it. That is the point here, and that is definitely what made this song so popular.
