POST ADMISSION PRE VISA
This is an important stage when u have admissions and you are required to either follow up with ur universities to send your I 20s . Also you have to prepare for funding , if u don't have funding Funding is very difficult to obtain , as most professors will not know of whether they have funding available until a month before fall classes reopen . At that point of time they will be more forthcoming . And Most professors would not prefer to offer funding through mail , as they would like to evaluate a students communication skills in person . Since most students obtain visas , even without funding , be cool , don't irritate profs sending them ur resumes . Just make urself more skillful in programming , particularly for the internet ( HTMl and related web authoring languages). Preferably do some WebPages on ur own and have them with you , so that it will be easy for them to evaluate you . Teaching assistantships are very competitive and , offered mostly by the Math departments once u come to the university . U could probably brush up with ur math skills .
U should block flight tickets as early as April . Particularly if ur university is located in the mid-west .
Most Universities , require that u send a financial statement with ur application and using that they will send u the I20 along wit ur admission letter. But some universities (TOP SCHOOLS) , require that u send an offer of acceptance and a financial statement again . U can use the financial statement u sent with ur application only if it is less than 6 months old. If it is more than 6 months old , don't u worry : u can take a new financial statement , and use that for ur visa also, as the embassy people accept a financial statement , less than 3 months old.
