Chapter 10

LaTasha led Lisa and Michael to Dave's body. They got to an empty street and there was a bench on the sidewalk. LaTasha looked around confused. The body wasn't there. Suddenly, out of the shadows, The Master appeared with a bloody stake in his hand. Lisa's body tensed in fear and LaTasha backed up a few steps. The Master gave a devilish grin. His teeth were stained with blood.

"If you're looking for Dave's corpse, I don't think you would want to see what's left of it."

LaTasha's stomach turned. The Master walked up to Lisa.

"Why did you do it?" Lisa asked. The Master twirled the stake and pressed the tip against Lisa's chest.

"For pleasure." He answered.

Lisa swallowed hard. "You're trying to scare me. That's all."

"It's a possibility." The Master smiled.

"You said that--"

"I would leave you alone if you didn't love Michael." The Master said. "You were dumb enough to believe me?"

Lisa said nothing.

"I know that Richard is after Michael. I'm glad he is too. I'm up for anything that causes anyone pain." he laughed and walked away. Taking a deep breath, Lisa turned around.

"Oh damn, where did Michael run off to?"

Michael walked the opposite direction Lisa and LaTasha were going. The last thing he wanted to do was look at someone's dead body. Putting his hands in his pockets, Michael gazed up at the night sky. He wondered why the night amazed him so much.

"Michael," someone called.

Michael turned around and saw those intense eyes he of the one who almost got him into a car crash. He was the same guy who drove the BMW and tried to kill Lisaand Michael.

"May I introduce myself. My name is Richard. The one who would really like to kill you about now."

He pushed Michael against the wall and held him by the collar.� "Scared?" Michael shook his head.

"Maybe this will wake you up." Richard pulled out a stake and held it to Michael's chest.

"What is it that you want from me? Me and Lisa didn't do anything to you." Richard scanned Michael with his eyes. "You aren't her priadestic..."

"A what?"

Richard looked Michael in the eyes. "You know nothing about The Night." he laughed. "I got news for you kiddo. You are half vampire."

Richard broke in laughter when Michael gave him an incredulous look. "Welcome to vampire haven. Talk to Lisa about it because I know she is walking right behind me at this moment." Richard turned around and sure enough, LaTasha and Lisa were behind him. Richard continued to laugh.

"Man! I'll kill one of ya'll tomorrow! This is too hilarious for me!"

Lisa only watched Richard walk away.

"Why are you letting him get away?" LaTasha asked. Lisa had a dreadful look on her face. She was afraid she knew what was so funny. Michael gazed up at the sky again. He took a deep breath of the air.
A vampire.
He looked at The Night as if looking at it for the first time. The realization that Michael was darkness triggered something inside of him. Everything looked different. He felt different. He was darkness.

"Michael, are you okay?" Lisa asked, putting her hand on Michael's shoulder. Michael shook his head and blinked the tears out of his eyes. "I'm part of all this evil, right?"

Lisa nodded. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I just thought--"

"Lisa, I am half human and half immortal. Stuck in between good and evil. All this time." Tears streamed down his cheeks. Michael shook his head, unable to say another word. He ran down the street crying.

"Michael!" Lisa cried. "Michael!"

LaTasha sighed. "Go after him. I'll head over to Jake's place."
