my 1989 honda civic lx current modifications list.

05-03-09 Boy, it has been a long ass time. . It is almost like i forgot about this page. . but i didn't. Lots have happened since the last time i was here. The car has completely undergone a transformation and is getting completely MUGENIZED! heheeh! 
Sorry for the neglect. . .but. . i am still here and the car is still undergoing more JDM goodness and updates.

08-25-08 Well. . not much to report. .car had to go through some major issues. Alternator went, timing belt went, battery went. AC went . . . so. i had to plunk down some cash and got the car back up and running. Got a new alternator with all new belts, New compressor and drier and a nice good charge, got a new battery, it was under warranty. Then got a new timing belt and water pump. WHEW! With 325K miles. . things happen!

03-02-08 OK, got the site back up and working. I updated some pictures. Look for more updates soon. . .

02-26-08 Let's see if this works. I have had issues with my account for some time. . i will be updating as soon as this site lets me.

06-20-07  updated some of my engine pics. . check em out!

06-16-07 Got my mini me swap all done. SO, i have an A6 bottom end and a Z6 top end . The cool thing is now i have Vtec. Car was professionally tuned by Nate at Section 8 Motorsports with eCtune. Also, the car is now OBD-1.

05-25-07  Well, after my A6 head overheated, i have decided to go with a Z6 vtec head. This is called the "mini-me" swap. Certain things will cross over, others will not. I will be selling a few things from the A6 set up to pay for the Z6 transformation :) .

11-10-06 sorry no real updates to show. I just wanted to check in and say all is well. The car is going to be painted in December, so i will be updating the pictures once again. Car is still running strong. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to sign the guestbook!!

8-2-06 I just swapped over to the JDM front clip. It was a chore and took a good weekend to do, but it was all worth it. If anyone is doing this swap and have questions, feel free to contact me. I have first hand knowledge as to what you are up against.  Like always, thanks for looking!!  Pictures will be updated shortly.

5-30-06 Well, i will be selling the bodykit if anyone is interested in getting it. Local pickup is prefered, but i will ship with buyer paying the shipping fees. If you are interested, e-mail me. Here is some info on it. The Rear and sides are by Vis Racing, called Extreme, and the front was a custom install for the 4 doors from Andy's Autosport, called combat.

4-20-06 Hello all. . and thanks for signing in on the guest book.  This car has been a project of mine for years and years and it doesn't seem like it is going to stop. I have some other things planned for the car. . so check back soonly. Beside that. . the HONDA is getting thrown back on the DYNO soon. I'll let you know he she does!

12-27-05 Well, not too much happening. Car is still doing fine. It runs like a champ. The one thing i can say it needs is a good washing. Again, thanks for stopping by and checking out the site. 10-24-05  Got the Honda tuned this past weekend. I though the car was running good, then i got the ecu chipped and tuned.  What a difference! The car is running smoother and better than ever. Idle is perfect and power is there. much props to Nate at Section 8 for doing the work. (http://www.natesbox.com/tuning/)

9-30-05 Not much still happening, Car is still doing fine. Got a set of Mugen MR5's for the car. Will be getting tires and pictures up soon. Thanks for stopping by!

3-31-05  It's been a little while, but not much happening on this end. The car is still running fine. I am planning on running it on a dyno soon to see what it is actually doing. One of the most significant changes i have noticed since the head was milled and the compression raised is that the car takes a bit to warm up in the morning. Once it is warmed up. Car is great, but morning it is a rough idle. Someone told me it was the due to the cam. What ever the reason. It really doesn't bother me.  Car is awesome to drive!

1/25/05 Well, i just gassed up with 100 octane gas this past weekend. What a difference that made. Car is fine and running strong. Gotta Love that D series!

1/13/05 Things are fine. I have found all the high octane gas stations around my area. Car is running stronger than ever.  Much Thanks to Shannon from Alternative AutoWorks.

1-7-05  got the car back. . The head was milled again. This is the last time the head can be milled. My compression is up tp 12.5 :1.  I have to run 100+ octane now. It is fine and all. I don't mind. The power is now more significant. You can really feel the cam working. All is well. the car is on the road again! Big thank you to Shannon for the work and for helping me out on the side of I-95 Thursday  morning. He "IS" the Honda Guru!!

1-3-05  What a way to bring in the new year. . On 12-24-04, my master cylinder needed to be replaced. Thanks to Jose for being there for my on X-mas eve to do the work and get me back on the road. Then on 12-30-04 my head gasket blows. I rented a U-haul car carrier and towed my car to Alternative Autoworks in Merritt Island Fl. 1-1-05. The car is going to be worked on this week. The head is going to be milled again. My compression is going to go up a little more. Rings are going to be replaced and everything is getting checked over. What a way to bring in 2005! Car will be up and ready by the weekend. Going to compete in the ECES car show. We'll see what happens.

12-20-04 well, it's that time of the year when we have to think of others, I am having to spend money on other things other than my car. . but that is fine. . once a year is OK with me. :) The car is still running fine. I had some issues with the valve lash setting. .so after trial and error, we finally got to a setting that is good. Specs say .007 int / .008 exh. but i found this to be a little too tight. i went back to the .007 int / .009 exh. The car seems to likes this a whole lot more. Beside that. Not much more happening. I got the JDM Front end still sitting at the bodyshop.

9-21-04  Just got back from NOPI Nationals in Atlanta Ga. The car went over 1202 miles without a hitch. i average about 24mpg with all the mods done and the car had no problem cruising at high speeds for a long period of time. i averaged 85-90 mph the whole way there (except when it was raining). The show was amazing, you see so many 
crazy cars at this show. it once again was a blast.

9-15-04 Just picked up theJDM front end for the 88-91 civic 4 door.  That conversion will take place within the following  months. I got the JDM Hood,, 1 Piece headlights, Fenders , Filler Piece, Bumper, Radiator Support, Bumper lights, and Side Markers.  This will be a wicked conversion when it is all done.
Beside that, headed up to NOPI Nationals this weekend.  If anyone is riding out, i will be showing in the Brown section. On the far right side.  Make sure you stop by and say HI!

8-16-04  I've got a few stickers here for the "Naturally Aspirated" all motor person. Click on the link on the front page for more info. When you receive the sticker, place it on your car and send me a picture. I will post it up on the "Sticker Page" along with a little bio on the moror.

8-11-04 Just installed the JG301x camshaft, valve springs and titanium retainers. What a difference that makes. I also installed an AEM Fuel Pressure Regulator and a Fuel Rail to supply the B16 injectors with the right amount of fuel. Car is Humming along fine! 
I'm trying to get it ready for NOPI. See some of you guy's / girls there!!

7-24-04  Getting ready to head up to NOPI Nationals. Can't wait. If anyone is going, Hit me up. Me and my car will be in the infield. There are a few shows before that one. I will Keep you guys posted on how we do.

7-17-04 Just got back from Import Xplosion in Orlando. Glad to report, i placed 3rd in the Civic Mild Class.  Also, i got first at the Funk Master Flex car show "Best 88-92 Honda Civic".

6-22-04  Just picked up a JG301x cam for the 89. . i mean 91 civic motor. . will be installing that shortly. . also got the JG springs and titanium retainers. That should throw down a little over 25 HP than what it is doing now.  The car is at the bodyshop as we speak getting its front end repainted and fixed. I will post pics soon. AND LIKE ALWAYS, THANKS FOR COMING BY AND CHECKING OUT THE SITE.

6-1-04  just updated some pics. more coming.

5-28-04  Nothng too exciting over in these parts. The next shows will be in July. I just recently had to get my AC redone. Apparently there is barely any space where DC header sits and the Koyo Alum radiator are that it heated up my AC fan and burned the motor. I had to get a thinner fan. AC is fine again. .Many thanks to Jose over at Jose's Garage for helping me out with this. Florida is getting hot, humid and sticky! got it fixed just in time. 
Next on the adgenda. . I am re-building my transmission. . JOY! . . It's working fine. . well, fine is not good enough. . .one of my synchros are going bad. the one between 4th and 5th. It goes in next week. .
I'll keep ya posted! Beside that. . she's running like a champ!

4-15-04 Well, i just revised the folding mirror diagram that was sent to me from Noe.  If anyone has the folding mirrors and needs the wiring diagram, drop me a line. .

4-2-04  I got my JDM folding mirrors installed. They are awesome. check out the jdm page i just started to see the pictures and some other jdm accessories i have gotten for my 4 door. Thanks for Enrique and Noe for their help with the wiring diagram.
Without that, i would have been lost.

3-24-04 Got a new throttle body, my last one was sticking. . so. . got one bored out to 60mm with a new gate, TPS and MAP sensor. Car is idling smooth. . check engine light is off. .  :)

3-18-04 Got the aluminum radiator in the car the other night. .Needed to do some modifications, but it is in there. I had to cut some of the metal around the radiator supports to allow the stock radiator supports to work properly. The radiator is a lot larger than stock. Look for pics in the "engine" section. Also just got a set of JDM folding mirrors for the 88-91 4 door. Those will 
be painted and installed in a few weeks.  Pics in the "bodykit" section.

3-15-04 Got a KOYO aluminum radiator for the car, it should be going in this week. Beside that, still tuning the car. I think it's going to be a while until the car is completely tuned right. But it is still running stronger than the D15B2 motor. Also, my audio is being re-done for the 
third time, i decided to do something completely different. .You'll see. . i will post pics up as things happen. . .keep in tune. .

1/31/04 well, i got my new motor in the car, all is well. The car is stronger than ever with over 293K miles on it. I am going to try and keep better track of this site and it's updates. There are things constantly happening so it is tough, but. . imma try.

11-17-03 got my car beck on 11-11-03. . Man. . what a world of difference. The ACT clutch is so different from the standard clutch. The car sounds completely different. I can hear the intake sucking air from inside my car. I am very pleased to have the car back and to have this swap done. Check out pictures in the engine page of what went into the motor.
now, i need a few dress up things. I am looking for the AEM short Ram intake. My DC air max intake does not work on the new throttle body. I got new rims and new interior stuff. . this site is going to go under a major update. So, keep checking on it.

11-9-03 My new motor is in the car, now the wiring is what is left. I'm hoping to get it back by next week. Pictures coming soon of everything. Got my new ACT clutch installed also. Keep checking in! updated pics will be up soon.

10-31-03 Happy Halloween!! Anyway. . i just updated some pictures of my engine. check them out on the swap page. I know, i know. . it's taking me forever to do this swap. . but it IS coming along. .i'd rather take my time and do it right than screw it all up cause i am in a hurry. 10-22-03 I am selling my Rims. They are 16" Silver  5Zigen GT-8.  Let me give you some background on these rims. These rims are no longer available through 5Zigen, they are now manufactured by Power Racing. 5Zigen i guess sold the rights to continue to produce these rims. There are knock off's like the Motegi M7's and another one i've seen, but they are not the real deal. The motegi rims have a little cut out for the motegi logo on the rim. 
These rims have no cut outs. The rims are in excellent condition. I took great care of them along with everything else in my car cause i took it to shows. There are no curb rashes and none of the rims are bent. They are in great condition considering age. I can take closer pictures if you are interested. The rims come with extra power racing caps. the 5Zigen caps are no longer available. You will get the y caps on the rims already and an extra three
caps for spare. I rode with 205 40r16's. Anyone interested, please e-mail me. Thanks!

10-6-03  I just loaded up some pictures of my rebuilt bottom end. There are some good shots of the pistons and rods. . it's coming together now. .from this point on it should be smooth. Check em out!

9-12-03 I just took some pictures of my new engine. It is not completely back from the machine shop, but check them out under the "current projects" link. It not going to be long now. That is about all i have to report. Can't wait. I've gotten a lot of things together for this engine. I cannot wait to see how it will drive and feel after it is installed.

9-3-03 Well, a lot has been going on over here. I plan on re-vamping the site here shortly. Hopefully by the weekend. I am planning on taking more recent pictures of the car, and maybe organize the site another way, not sure yet. Anyway. That's about all from over here. .

Crower has a backorder that was indefinite and they did not know when they could ship the rods out, So i've decided to go with Eagle rods. I should be receiving those shortly. This project is taking a lot of time, but, good things come to those who wait. he he

7-14-03 well, sorry to be such a slacker. I've ran into a few snags here and there. First off, my AC went out on me. So, if anyone knows Florida, ITS HOT! And Florida Summers, when it rains and stops, sun comes out , then rains again. Humidity is 100%. anyway, i am in the process of finding how much it will be to fix. On the good news side, my SRP Pistons came in for me D16A6 swap. The swap is coming along slowly but surely. . I'm excited and cannot wait to get that engine in  my car. 
I just got back from "La Fiebre" car show in Orlando where they ranked my car in the WILD Civic category. It was crazy. i was up agains a right handed civic, and a 98 civic with a BMW conversion front end. To say the least, i got third place in the civic wild class. I'm Pretty stoked! Thats it for now. Check out the latest Super street magazine to see Chad's JDM 4door in there. (August 2003, pg 110)

6-21-03 just added Craig Hunter from Australia onto the "other civic's page 2". Check out his clean looking civic. Still not much hppening over on this end. it's been raining over here non-stop for about two weeks. Work flew me to Chicago for a few days, so i got away from the heat and humidity but i'm glad to be back, I could not wait to drive somewhere. Mass transit is cool and all, but. . . just not for me. . .I was unable to attend HIN in Orlando due to going to Chicago, but from what i heard, it was amazing. Maybe next year?

6-8-03  Not much happening. Still trying to save some cash to rebuild my D16A6. This is going to take a little bit. There are a few car shows this month in Orlando that i plan to attend. HIN is the 14th. let's see what happens

5-18-03  Just got back fron the CFN. Central Florida Nationals last night. Glad to say my 89 civic placed FIRST in the Honda Civic Coupe Mild Class. There were tons of cars there. My car was number 300 when i rolled in. It was a great turn out and a suprise to me to walk away with the first place trophy. My 89 civic was again the only 4 door 88-91 civic in competition. Picture of the trophy is at the bottom of this page.
Next show is June 28th in Jacksonville.

5-14-03  my car was towed to the mechanic yesterday afternoon. It was a 50/50 chance that if they replace the timing bet, that the car would start up and idle right. When the covers and belt were removed, we realized that a tension pully siezed up. This is what caused the belt to melt and snap. The pully was probably never replaced the way it just froze up. We could not get it to move. So. . We purchased a timing belt kit that came with the pully and replaced it all. Fired it up and VROOOOMMM.
She purrrrrrrred. So, i've got my car back. There is another show (the CFN) this weekend in Orlando. I was planning on attending, but with the past couple of days expenses??? don't know??

5-11-03  News to report!! I just returned home from the Import generation car show in Tampa Florida. The turn out was less than expected but overall it was a good show. I specifically entered this show because there was a class for the 
4 door civic. the competition was not bad but. . to make this long story short. my civic placed first in it's class.  here is a picture of the trophy that was given. (bottom of this page)  i will post pictures as soon as i get them. Adding to this story, on the 2.5 hour drive back home from the show, my timing belt melted and fell apart. My car is currently out of commision until further notice. It was towed on a flatbed truck from Tampa home at a ridiculous cost but at least it is here with me. I hope i can get it going again and there is not any major damage. the CFN (Central Florida Nationals) are this weekend coming. 
we shall see.  :(

04-20-03   Just updated the interior pictures. i added a shot of the rear upper strut bar. i guess i never really had a good shot of that one.  Anyone have anything new or projects going on out there? Drop me a line.  My appointment for my engine swap is in June. so. . until then, i'll be saving $$ and keeping low key.

04-12-03  I just re-did some things in my car again. . i tell you. . it is never ending. . anyway.  i updated some of the pictures in the interior section,  showing what i have done. i just installed an Air Fuel Gauge in my A pillar pod holder and re-located the oil gauge in the glove box with the other TV i have.
i also took some pictures of my now complete Si center Console. i finally found all the pieces black. . I also took my RAZO shifter off and installed my first MOMO shift knob.  Check them out. . let me know what you think.

04-04-03  well. . i got a chance to take my car out on the runway of a private airport down south. .(check the bodykit page)  i had to take these pictures on the on the runway. . it was awesome to speed the car out on the runway. .there are some other shots with planes in the background. . i'll post some of those later.

03-24-03   I just got back from the Spring Break Tuner Bash in Daytona Beach. It was a tough show. i did not see one 88-91 civic in the competition. i did see a few CRX's.
Beside all the nice cars to see, there were tons of girls in Bikini's. . (if you want to call a piece of string a bikini). Also. i wantedto say that ran into a few guys i met up in Atlanta at NOPI Nationals . thanks for honking and yelling. . i do remember you guys!!  Nothing new to say about my car. I am in the process of swapping out my shocks to Tokico shocks.
beside that, i am trying to save cash for my engine.

03-10-03   well, i finally got some tires on my car. i am going with Yokohama Avids. Nitto's are great tires. in my opinion, Nitto tires grip like glue, they
are amazing in wet weather but i believe the sidewalls are a little too soft for me. when taking turns, i feel that the car kinds sways when i rode them. 
it was somethig i got used to in the 3 years that i rode them. . they were a big improvement from the BFG Euro TA's that i had before.     i thought i'd try something different this time around. 
that is my little review. . . that and the Nitto's wear rating is pretty low. .

i also just posted some pictures of the front camber kit installed on the car.

i also just got some Tokico shocks for my car. . i have not replaced the shocks since i lowered the car. . so. . why not get the good ones.

02-19-03  well, nothing really new to say. I have installed the Ingalls camber kit on the front of the car. . My Nitto's finally went out on me. . .so i'm riding stock tires. . now i am waiting for some tires to throw my 
rims back on the car.  Turner Show Off Bash in Daytona Beach is happening in March. anyone going?

9/29/02   I just got off the road again. . this time it was for the Sport Compact Fall Nationals . .at MOROSO motorsports park down in Palm Beach. . This was another car show that had a big turnout.  check out some of the

9/23/02    got back fron NOPI Nationals. . i posted some pics i took. there were tons of cars, tons of people. . it was great. . my daily driver  racked up over 1300 miles on the trip to
Atlanta. .it's still going strong.  if you did not attend. . i recommend you try and attend next year . . cars came from as far North as Canada, and as far west as Texas.  check out the nopi pics link on the 
front page. .

9/8/02   Well. . i just got my BODYKIT all together. . those are the Vis Extreme Sides and Rear bumper.  we got it painted yesterday and installed today.

9/7/02  I just added another page giving a shout out to the guys at the bodyshop that do all my work. The link has some of their current cars almost ready to roll off into the streets.

9-6-02  well, i received the rest of my bodykit. . it should be up and running by the end of the weekend. .i had to re locate the muffler back to 
the left side. . then completely hack it off cause it is too big for the kit. . so. . right now i am shopping for a muffler. . pics will be up soon.  oh. . i updated

8-19-02   Well, i went to Tampa for the show that where it was totally raining, so. . i didn't do much there. I decided to go to the S.P.O.T.
(Skatepark Of Tampa) for the evening. I guess NOPI Nationals is the next show to attend. 
hopefully a lot of you guys are going.  If so, let me know so we'll meet up.

So, my car goes into the shop next weekend for the DPI MPFI Swap. 
let's see what happens. Hopefully all will go well and no major snags.
