| Planetfall
Planetfall was eventful for each army that headed toward Coheed VII. The first army to get a stronghold on the planet was the marines of the Legion of Alistar chapter. Having previous intelligence about the location of an aboveground shrine left by an ancient civilization, the space marines landed there and dug in to hold the age-old ruins. The battle brothers did not have enough time to probe the shrine for any secrets, however, as they were forced to make a tactical withdrawal from the location as scouts from many other races made their way towards the shrine. The shrine ended up in the hands of a sisters of battle scout force. They were successful in fortifying their position and holding off enemy advances long enough for reinforcements to arrive from orbit. With the inquisitors rapidly discovering more about the planets history, the witchhunters looked to be in a prime position for finding the first artifacts on Coheed VII. The Quel-Thalas warsphere landed without trouble and was able to set-up a key defense post in the jungle. The kindred was pleased to learn that Geoffrey the great knarloc had won yet another survival bet, but his caretakers were irked by the amounts of dreadnought scrap metal that had to be removed from the inside of his mouth. As each army landed in its predetermined locations, the mysterious Necrons materialized all over the planets surface. While not appearing in powerful numbers, they forced the Legion of Alistar to evacuate the shrine before the witchhunters later claimed it. There were no Necron ships in orbit, leading some commanders to believe that the Necrons had awoken from Coheed VII itself. With Coheed VII being so close to the Eye of Terror, it was guaranteed that Chaos would try to clutch the planet in their hands. Indeed, the Death Fists chapter of marines landed across the planet in dreadclaw droppods. Without any leadership, however, the rage overtook the marines and they were forced to withdraw when their champion, Rufus, was incapacitated while holding off no less than fifteen marines of the Legion of Alistar chapter. On the heels of Chaos, the 13th Company of Space Wolves arrived from the shadows. They slaughtered anyone who was unlucky enough to get in their way before retreating back into the darkness from which they came. Scouts reported that in their rapid attacks they were able to retrieve an unknown artifact and disappear with it into the jungle. Month One Month Two |
