Zelda

Zelda was born in Springfield, Mass, in her family home - one of those old Victorians on Vermont Street. The family loves to tell how Zelda wanted to sing with Louis Prima before she was even born. Her mother says she couldn't wait to start singing. In fact, her dad had just turned the radio on to listen to Louis Prima when Maureen, (Zelda's mom) had 3 contractions and there she was - Zelda, singing her little lungs out! No time to go to the hospital, no time to even get to the car.

Zelda can't remember a time that she didn't love singing. At age 5, she started sitting at an old upright piano in the parlor and her father taught her how to play basic chords. She made up little songs to sing with the chords she had learned. She listened to all the pop and jazz vocalists and wanted to be able to sing those songs. She stood in front of her full-length mirror, sang into her hairbrush, and gave shows for her dolls, her parents, her two older brothers - anyone who would listen. She was never completely happy with the way she sounded until her parents bought her a Karaoke machine to provide all the background music.

Zelda saved every cent from babysitting and part time jobs. She even washed and waxed her brother Jim's car each week just to get enough money to buy her equipment. When she was ready, she made herself available to be a disk-jockey for weddings and played weekends in Boston night clubs, and at the local bar, The Mosey Inn.

Zelda wants to study broadcasting. Keep your eyes open. Someday, Zelda's name may be up in lights!

Zelda met the other girls on a literature discussion community on the internet. The group has been communicating regularly for 6 years-discussing various books they have read. This year they decided to meet and take a small vacation together in Longville, MN. They had read that Longville was the smallest town in Minnesota to have a public library, and had heard of Longville's turtle races on National Public Radio last year.
