Athea

Born in Red Wing, Minnesota, Athea Reed spent her summers at the family cabin in Wacouta swimming and boating in Lake Pepin. In the cabins along the beach there were many small children and Athea grew up not only babysitting, but organizing summer activites for them as well. She loves children and enjoys bringing out their hidden talents.

Athea did not want to be far from home, so she went to Stout University in Wisconsin where she expanded on her dream to help children grow by getting her B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Child Psychology. She is now a first grade teacher in Baldwin, Wisconsin and married to a successful contractor. I'm sure there are some very lucky children in their future.

Athea met the other girls on a literature discussion community on the internet. The group has been communicating regularly for 6 years-discussing various books they have read. This year they decided to meet and take a small vacation together in Longville, MN. They had read that Longville was the smallest town in Minnesota to have a public library, and had heard of Longville's turtle races on National Public Radio last year.
