Band: Slowlife
Interviewed: All

Official Website:
www.death2k.com

Current Release:

Ixion: I've extensively tried to find some info about the band with little luck, so some of the questions may seem a little unresearched. With that said, who am I speaking to and what do you do?
All: Sillen ( drums ), Walle ( guitar ), Chris ( vox ) and Dan ( bass )

Ixion: I recently found out that you guys aren't from the USA, so for anyone unfamiliar with the band, tell us where you're from and how Slowlife came together.
Sillen: I started playing with Walle and Chris in a crossover band a couple of years ago. The band fell apart due to lack of interest. Me, Walle and Chris kept playing together, and formed "Slowlife". After a just a few weeks we recorded our first demo, and just a few weeks after that we found Dan (bassplayer).

Ixion: How did you decide on the name Slowlife, and does the name have any meaning behind it?
Sillen: Actually, it is means pretty much what it sounds like, a slow life. Some times life pretty much sucks and we try to make the best of it.

Ixion: Is there a strong metal presence in Stockholm?
Sillen: There are many great bands but unfortuanatly almost no venues or clubs for the underground bands to play.

Ixion: Does the band have much of a following here in the states?
Sillen: Considering the amount of e-mail we've gotten during the past year and the fact that weve had over 16,000 downloads on mp3.com since we put the first songs up, we like to think we've started getting a strong fanbase in the states.

Ixion: Any plans to make a trip to the states to play out, or make the move permanently?
Sillen: Obviously, making a tour in the states, even just a small club tour, is one of our primary goals for the near future. Although making a permanent move to the states is not intresting for the time being. Although Sweden may be a very dry envoirement for heavy music right now, we are close to countries such as Germany and England, where heavy music has more acceptance.

Ixion: Listening to some of your material, it sounds like you have been influenced by American metal. Could you point out some of your influence?
Sillen: Recently most of the band have been listening to native bands such as Meshuggah, refused, At The Gates and LOK, although there of course are American influences too such as Pantera, Die Section, Marlyn Manson among others.

Ixion: What led you to metal?
Sillen, Chris, Walle: Our hearts!

Ixion: As I listened to some of your songs for the first time, the vocals somewhat reminded me of a mix of Marilyn Manson and Clint of Sevendust. Have you had any comparisons of that sort before?
Chris: Not that that one ( thanx for the compliment! ), but people have a way of comparing me to voclists from all around the world. I pretty much think I do my own thing.

Ixion: The songs, "Walk Away" and "Sleepless" are easily two of my favorite. I think so because of the catchy hooks and very strong power driven music. Who is responsible for the lyrics, and tell me how Slowlife's writing process works.
Chris: I do most of the lyrics.
Dan: But we all contribute to the writing. One of us may come down with a riff or a groove and we start out with jamming around it.

Ixion: As I was searching for info, I was not able to find whether or not you presently have released any albums. Are there any ep's available?
Walle: Nothing available for the time being, exept for some old demo tracks on the internet, but we are rehearsing at the moment to record our first full lenght album this spring.

Ixion: Is there any other merchandise available?
Walle: The only thing weve got for sale right now is t-shirts.

Ixion: What is Slowlife's current label status?
Sillen: at the moment we are doing everything totally independently. Well see what happens in the future.

Ixion: What do you see happening with the band in the near future, any plans?
Sillen: Recording the album of course. Then we are doing some gigs around all of Sweden during the spring and hopefully some summer-festivals. Then were planning to do some touring around Europe and then, hopefully we are coming to the states, sometime in a year from now.

Ixion: Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Sillen: Only that we would like to thank everyone that has showed interest in SLOWLIFE and remeber to to mail us or check the the homepage if you want to know more about us. Its been a busy and this is just the beginning........
