Band: Slaves On Dope
Interviewed: Kevin
Position: Guitar

Official Website:
www.slavesondope.com

Current Release:

Ixion: Okay, so who am I speaking to... and what is your part in Slaves On Dope?
Kevin: See above.

Ixion: For anyone who is unfamiliar with the meaning behind the name Slaves On Dope, would you mind explaining it?
Kevin: We are slaves to the music, the music is our drug.

Ixion: Do you think using such a moniker as Slaves On Dope may have drawn some negative industry feedback?
Kevin: No, it's always helped us to have a name that draws some sort of emotion out of someone. They always remember the name.

Ixion: So... What has the band been up to lately?
Kevin: We were in LA earlier this year doing demos for record labels with Troy from A Perfect Circe and Jason from Snake River Conspiracy.

Ixion: When can we expect a new album?
Kevin: We should have one out later this year if all goes as planned.

Ixion: Are you guys still in California for the new album, or are you back in Canada?
Kevin: We'll do the record wherever we can. I'd love to Stay in Montreal but the industry is located in LA, so we'll have to see.

Ixion: Any prospective titled for the new album?
Kevin: We have a few ideas. I think we'll run it by the fans on the website when the record is coming close to completion.

Ixion: The year 2000 was a big year for Slaves On Dope. With your debut album, "Inches From The Mainline" releasing, as well as a 2nd stage slot on Ozzfest... but more recently, the band has been a bit more quiet. Can we expect to see a lot of you in the coming year?
Kevin: As soon, as we get the record out, we'll hit the road, be it headling or opening, we'll be out there.

Ixion: I remember at Sno-Core last year seeing you guys play out, and Jason went out and sang "Edgecrusher" with Fear Factory. What do you think about them breaking up?
Kevin: We know the guys in the band real well, and we wish them the best. I was hoping that they could sort out their differences, but they couldn't.

Ixion: I've seen you guys play out a few times, and I noticed you put a lot of focus on interacting with the crowd as opposed to a lot of other bands. Do you think thats essential for a good show?
Kevin: If I was to pay and see a band stare at their shoes and not interact with the crowd, I'd feel ripped of. We give 110% every show and make sure that we never let our fans down.

Ixion: After Ozzfest 2000, you were invited back for 2001 but you declined that offer... any perticular reason why?
Kevin: We were hoping to do the next record. When Divine got into some trouble, and we had the chance to leave, we did. That meant no touring or recording until we had a new deal.

Ixion: Did that effect your relationship at all with the Osbournes, or with Divine Records?
Kevin: Our relationship is fine with the Osbournes. Since Divine is no longer.......there is no relationship.

Ixion: What do you think of "The Osbournes" show on MTV?
Kevin: I lived it for 2 years, it's really that crazy....

Ixion: A few of your songs have a very anti-drug message... whats the bands stand on the issue of drugs/alchohal?
Kevin: None of use use drugs, I have the occasional drink and thats it. We like to stay clean and focused on the music.

Ixion: What do you think of Canadian metal?
Kevin: Is there any?

Ixion: What band(s) have you found yourself listening to lately?
Kevin: I love the Andrew WK, Rival Schools, NERD, Outkast, Kings X.

Ixion: What are the bands plan for this summer?
Kevin: We want to get the record recorded and get on the road to see our fans.

Ixion: Is there anything you would like to say in closing?
Kevin: Check out www.slavesondope.com for all the updates on the band.
