The copy have is on CD so it is a pretty recent copy. I have to say I find Prince's voice on here a little to high for my liking but oh well. There is the funk there and that is what matters.
It does have one of 2 of my favourite songs on it " Why you want to treat me so bad" and "I wanna be your lover". These songs sums up the album for me a little Prince with his heart set on love but with it being torn away from him! |

Release in UK Oct 1980 this album has the right title for seems Prince has given up on the love for a good bit of old fashioned SEX. Not an album to everyones taste but I love it. "When you were mine" being the best song off it for me. The trouble for me at this time was that Prince had the such odd taste in clothes at the time I mean the black pants come on. |

Release in UK 1981. This album saw prince getting more and more into his sex. "Jack u off" is a great song.
I think 2 me this album is very overrated. I think prince is trying to hard to make dirty songs. Dirty Mind was just right and maybe with added popularity he thought he needed more. The rerelease of Controversy the single was just a way for Warner Brothers to get more money and for them to try and promote Prince as controversial which at the time I don't think he was. Perhaps they thought they were losing money becasue he wasn't |

Release Feb 1983 my version is the Nov 1983 one. The best thing about this album is the fact it really makes u dance it is a very happy album, it always makes me smile. Although I use to say that the song 1999 was one of my favourite songs. I think I will not be able to listen to it in the same way again because of the year 199 every DJ thought it would be fun to play it of course then warner brothers rerelased it and then this is when I really went off it. My favourite song off the album is Little Red Corvette because it is sad and romantic in a sexy kind of way and hey it's got a good beat.

Released in July 1984. Well it's the album for most people but not for me. I love it but hate it. You may think I am mad for saying that. my point of view is that the songs are very much the same nothing much seems different with them. The songs are dancey which is great for the club atmosphere which they were meant for the film. let's go crazy and Darling Nikki are my favourite's and I also love when doves cry. I am sorry I will never put purple rain the single at the top of my chart. prince has written a lot better songs you may disagree with me but everyone has a right to they own say. |

Released April 1985 Very underrated because of the album before. I think it is a very well formed and put together album it is also well formed with new idea's in it. Even looking at the cover gives a great image. I think I like most of the songs equally. I use to say Pop Life was my favourite but now I'm not sure it might be Paisley Park but doesn't everyone's favourite song change with what mood they are in. |

When I think about this album is sound track or album I don't understand it. It has things like venus de milo and Christopher Tracy's parade which in my option are soundtrack songs then it has things like Kiss and Mountains which I think are album songs. To be quite honest I really hate this album when I listen to it I end up fast forwarding half the songs.
Prince title songs tend to jump out at you because they are so goog if Christopher Tracy's parade or Under the Cherry Moon did that to me, you can be sure that I would have a baseball bat to smack thenm into place. I love Prince but I am sometimes puzzeled by him it's not to say I never listen to the album I do it's just many of the songs I dislike. One of my favourite songs is on this album this is Mountains I also love Kiss. That's why I am still puzzeled over the question album or soundtrack maybe 2 albums would have been better than this one. |

Well what can I say this is my favourite album and always will be. Even though I didn't know it at the time this album and the single U got the look started my love of Prince off. (Read my love of Prince story.)
Although I didn't buy this album until 6 months before Diamonds and Pearls was released. This album has so much to it a double album because there is so great songs on it in my option everyone of those songs could have been a single. I think the best part of the album is the bass and the lycris are so great. Sign o the times with it's meaning and Starfish and Coffee with it's strange but well fitted lycris. My favourite songs on this album are Sign o the times, Starfish and Coffee, Hot thing and It. Of course the others jump in and out of being favourties all the time. |

I feel this album should be longer in some way. It feels as if Prince wants to say more, express more with the use of u and the eye symbol. Although I think most of these songs sound very much the same. It is to me a dancey and romantic album my favourite songs are Alpbet st and I wish u heaven. |
