| Aesir- A race of war gods, sky deities led Frigg and Odin. Their home was Asgard known as the opponents of the sea gods, Vanir. After a long drawn out battle in which neither side won, they declared a truce. Afi- Mortal Afi and Amma are the ancestors of the race of peasants, Heimdall slept between them. They are also known as Grandmother and grandfather. Alfar- 2 Groups of dwarfs both ruled by Freyr Asgard- Dwelling place of the Aesir ( a race of gods and goddesses). located in Midgard, the middle earth. Gladsheim castle built by the Aesir, is located in Asgard. Inside is the great banquet place of Valhalla, with thrones for Odin and the 12 Highest gods. It has 640 doors and 960 warriors can walk abreast thru each door. The roof is made of shields, and the ceiling is made of spears, in which everything else is made of gold. The 12 gods (Aesir) and the 24 goddesses (Asynjor) assembled in the hall at the bidding of Odin. Ask- One of the 2 trees or blocks of week could be from an Ash tree that were used by Odin. Ve and Vili to carve the first 2 mortals, the first male was Ask, the first female was Embla, Odin gave them breath, health and life, Ve gave them human senses and attributes and Vili gave them understanding and patience. Audhumla- Cow, created in Ginnunga-gap before the beginning of the world as we know it. Ymir the giant fed from the 4 rivers of milk that she produced. |
| Begelmir- Survivors of the flood. The flood being when Ymir flooded the earth with his own blood. There were 2 survivors. Bersirker- The set of mortals whom would drink, or intoxicate themselves before battle. When in battle, they were immune to all weapons. After battle they were very weak though. Bifrost- The rainbow bridge. It links Asgard to the world of the Mortals. The bridge is built of fire, water, and air. The bridge is guarded by god Heimdall, whom is armed with a sword and carries the trumpet Giallahorn. The trumpet is used to announce the coming and going of certain gods and goddesses. Thor is denied use of the bridge due to his size. During Ragnarok, the bridge will be used, then broken down by Satur, as he leads the sons of Muspell. |
| Draupnir- Emblem of fertility. A magical ring. The ring were made by the dwarf smiths and given to Odin. Dromi- The second of the 4 chains to bind the wolf Fenrir. |
| Einharjar- Hero's who died in battle in Valhalla. They feast at night, battle by day as they await Ragnarok. Elivagar- 11 or 12 rivers that spring from the cauldron, or spring, or well named Huergelmir. The rivers froze which were said to be the source of the clay giant Ymir. |
| Freki- Animal, a wolf that attends to Odin. Geri- One of the 2 Wolves that laid at the feet of Odin when Odin was on his throne. Gladsheim- Location in Asgard, on the planes of Ida, a hall said to be where Odin and the 12 high gods are seated. Said to be Odins Zodiac house. Glasnir- The grove where one of Odins sanctuary's is located. Gleipnir- The 3rd and strongest chin to hold the wolf Fenrir. Gram- Mythical sword of Sigurd. Gullin-Bursti- The golden boar given by the dwarfs to Freyr. Is also sometimes seen with Freyr's sister Freyja riding it. Gullinkambi- Bird that will be the one to warn of Ragnarok. It awakens the gods every morning. Gungir- Magical spear of Odin. The spear was a gift from loki and crafted by the dwarfs. It is said Odin exchanged his eye for this great spear. |
