There are 9 diffrent realms of the vikings.

Asgard- Home of the gods and goddesses.  Dwelling place of the Aesir ( a race of gods and goddesses).  located in Midgard, themiddle earth. Gladsheim castle built by the Aesir, is located in Asgard.  Inside is the great banquet place of Valhalla, with thrones for Odin and the 12 Highest gods.  It has 640 doors and 960 warriors can walk abreast thru each door.  The roof is made of sheilds, and the ceiling is made of spears, in which everything else is made of gold.  The 12 gods (Aesir) and the 24 goddesses (Asynjor) assembled in the hall at the bidding of Odin.

Vanaheim- Also home of the gods and goddesses.  Home of the race of gods named the Vanir.  They were later joined with the Aesir.

Alfheim- Located between Asgard and Earth.  It is the home of the light elves Liosalfar.  These elves are ruled by Freyr.

Midgard- The earth and adobe of man.  It is one of the 9 worlds in Norse Mythology.  Midgard meaning middle abode, or middle earth.  Its half way between Nifl-Heim, and Muspells-Heim.  Jormungandr is also known as Midgard serpant, he encircles this whole earth.


Utgard- Home of the giants.  Home of Skrymir located in Jotunheim.  Loki may be the ruler.

Nidavellir- Home of the  dwarfs.
Svartalfheim- Home of the Evil. When Ymir was killed maggots produced in his rotting body, these maggots created the evil dwarfs whom manage this domain.

Nifleheim- The world of mist and Ice, darkness. The goddess Hel became the queen of Nifl-Heim where yggdrasil or the tree of life has its roots. Its known to be the lowest of the 9 worlds and the adobe of those whom died of old age and disease.

Muspell- The world of elemental fire.  Located in the southern section of the primeval abyss known as Ginnunga-gap.  Muspells-Heim have rivers taht spawn from them.  Some flowed by waters of bitter poison.  Muspells is guarded by flame Giant Surtr.


These 9 realms are held in place by Yggdrasil's (tree of life, Giant ash tree) roots. 
Asgard and Midgard are also joined by Bifrost, A bridge.  It's guarded by Heimdall, one of the Vanir Gods.
