SOUTHERN FRANCE
ARGELES
This region of Southern of France is steeped in history with great places to visit within
easy driving distance and also close to Spain (Costa Brava) with all its attractions. Argeles nestles
at the base of the Pyrenees giving a glorious back drop to the area plus mountain walks for the
more adventurious.
Then there are the Mediterrannean beaches and picturesque ancient villages with wonderful
views of the blue sea.
This is a major wine growing area with an abundance of vineyards, chateaus and "caves" where you can try the local brew,
and great local rivalry over who produces the best wines.
Access to the area is superb, a direct motor way from Calais which then continues on to
Bacelona. There are two airports within just over an hours drive, Gerona and Perpignon. Both of these
are served by cheap flights from various British Airports, (Ryanair , Mytravelite, etc.) The French Railways
run to Argeles and there are Coaches from Calais to Perpignon.
