September 2000 in Novi Sad
After long hot summer, September was just right. Warm, sunny and calm. That is the most beautiful part of the year on Danube. "Strand", Novi Sad's well known beach is almost empty. Only "real Strand people" come in the Autumn. Air is full of scents and sunsets are magic.
It is the right time to prepare garden for the winter. My grandma Maha is 82, but her mind is 30. She never stops. Garden is her passion, although she still finds time to teach odd class of German or translate some complicated text. I wish I get to be so alive and full of joy when I get to her age.
And of course, getting ready for the winter. Open market is full of fresh produce. People cook tomatoes and store them into jars. Capsicums are rosted and placed into freezers.
Novi Sad is an old city that over the time had many rulers. It was largely demaged in the mid-19th century, so all the buildings in th center of the town are dating from the end of 19th and begining of 20th century. Ortodox and Catolic churches, old palaces and merchant buildings, all stand together giving Novi Sad special spirit.
View from my grendma's house.
My good friends Silvija and Sara - we used to train swimming together. Silvija is my best friend since childhood. She lives in England at the moment, but so it happened that after her wedding this summer we meet again in Novi Sad.
Two Katarinas - my best friends from the high school. Life has been so different for three of us, but we can still sit together on my grandma's porch whole evening and talk and talk...
Women :-)
Here are a few special people I got together with while I was in Novi Sad
24th of September was date of Yugoslavian elections. Slobodan Milosevis lost the power, and we spent every evening on the main sqare celbrating. An excelent opportunity to meet old friends
Still upseting the beauty of Strand. Sad monument of NATO bombing.
