Infinitely more satisfying and interesting than any shopping mall. The vitality and authenticity comes quite simply from the fact that many people actually live here in these buildings. They also have offices, schools, churches, and everything else that people do including shopping. This is a real city. It is not, like a mall, owned by any single entity.
And this is not just a little zone in the city dressed up to look like this. The entire city from its center out to all of its edges looks like this. It is what you see.
