Chapter
fifty-five:
Christy stepped
into the front door of the house they had rented in LA. The entire house was
completely dark except for the light shining from the living room, casting a
large square shadow into the entrance hall.
Christy stepped
towards the light. “Honey? Did we leave this light on
when we left?” She stepped inside the room to turn off the light switch and
suddenly realized the light wasn’t actually on.
The room was lit
with the glow of hundreds of thousands of burning candles; the end tables were
filled with pink and white lilies with a massive bouquet centered on the
mantle.
Awestruck,
Christy stepped towards the largest arrangement of her favorite flower she had
ever seen. She stopped less than two yards from the mantel when she finally
noticed the large painting above the fire place had been removed.
In it’s place sat a plain white poster, neatly scrawled with
the words “Christy, will you marry me?”
Christy gasped
out loud and spun around in search of Isaac and found him down on one knee in
the middle of the living room. In his hands was a small velvet case containing
a diamond ring.
“Christy,” He
began. “From the moment I met you, I knew one day I would be asking you this
question. I’ve always believed in love at first sight, but I never actually experienced
it until I met you. You’ve shown me so many different sides of life that I
never would have known if it weren’t for you. Every day I thank god that you
walked into my life, because now I know for sure that I am destined to be with
you forever. I want to be with you for the rest of our lives. I want to get
married, and have children, and have grandchildren, and grow old together.
Christy, will you marry me?”
Christy smiled
broadly and dropped to her knees in front of him, not worrying at all about
wrinkling her dress. “Baby! Of course I will!” She
threw her arms around him tightly, allowing the tears to escape down her
cheeks. “God, I can’t believe this!”
“What can’t you
believe?” He asked, holding her tightly.
“Everything… A
year few years ago I never would have imagined myself getting married, let
alone to someone as perfect and romantic as you are.” She sniffled.
“I’m not
perfect.”
“Yes you are!
Everything about you is perfect! Even your proposal was perfect!”
He released her
suddenly, and lifted the ring from it’s case.
Christy smiled
and held out her left hand, and he gently slipped the ring onto her finger.
Christy kissed
him and held him tightly.
