Chapter
forty four :
“Hi, Zac.” Becky stood up from the sofa and walked past
Zac and into the tiny kitchenette.
“Hey, Becca.” He pulled his arm out from behind his back. “I
brought you some flowers…”
“Aww… Zac, that’s sweet.” She smiled, accepting the flowers.
She stood on her toes to kiss his cheek and set to work finding someplace to
put the flowers.
”Um… listen… I was wondering… is there something going on… I mean, you’ve been
acting a little funny lately… like you’re mad at me... Are you mad at me?”
Becky stopped unwrapping the flowers and sighed
heavily.
”Zac, I’m not mad at you… I’m just… upset.”
“At me?”
“No, not at you. I… I don’t know.”
“Well,
what is it, Becca? Let me help if I can. I can’t stand that you’re mad at me.”
“I’m
not mad at you… I’m just…” She paused. “Okay. Sit down.”
Zac
immediately sat down on a chair. “What is it Becca?”
”It’s just that the tour is over in a month, and that means it’s going to be…
who knows how long until we see each other, if we see each other, and I like
you. I don’t want this to be it for us, you know?”
“Becca,
what makes you think that we’re going to be over just because the tour is?”
“We
live so far apart and I can’t afford to be traveling back and forth all the
time, even though I want to see you all the time and… I don’t know…”
“Becky,
babe, I like you a lot. And I can’t even bare the thought of being away from
you for the entire year or however long it takes to record an album… And I
don’t care how far apart we live, Becca, I’m going to do my best to make this
work between us.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Becky
smiled and slid into his lap, “Thank you so much… You really think we can do a
long distance relationship?”
“Yeah. I think so. I know that I like you, and you
like me and that should be enough.”

Jenna
wandered down the hall just as
“Hey, Jen. Good morning.”
“Hey,
“I
couldn’t sleep. I was going to go for a walk and get some coffee. Do you want
to go with me?”
“Sure.
I would kill for a coffee right now… Can you give me a second to grab my
purse?”
“Yeah,
but don’t worry about it. I’ll cover you, just this once.”
Jenna
laughed. “Oh really? I’m glad that you can spare a
dollar out of your many millions to buy me a coffee.”
“Hey,
it’s more than a dollar, ok? It’s two.”
Jenna
laughed harder and stepped into the elevator. “Hey, great
news. Luke is coming to visit.”
“Oh, great.”
“He
doesn’t know. But it’s going to be so great! I’m so excited!”
“Yeah, um, hey. What’s going on with Becky and Zac? Do you
know?”
“Yeah,
she’s just upset about the tour ending…”
“Oh…
Are… are you upset?”
“Yeah, kind of. I’ve had so much fun. And I’m going to miss
being in different cities and being on a bus…”
“What
about me? Are you going to miss me?”
Jenna
laughed. “Of course. Who am I going to make fun of for
wearing hideous outfits?”
