Chapter
forty three:
Christy
quietly unlocked the door to Isaac’s hotel room. She crept inside in the dark,
and towards the bedroom.
The
concert had ended hours ago, and she knew he was more than likely asleep, but
she wanted to be with him anyway.
So she had snuck down the hall in an old t-shirt, which barely covered her
underwear, and into her boyfriend’s hotel room with the spare key.
”Isaac?” She called into the dark bedroom.
“Christy?”
He asked, obviously still awake.
“Yeah,
I couldn’t sleep.” She crossed the room, “How come you’re still awake?”
“I
couldn’t sleep either. Want to crawl in bed with me?”
“Can
I?”
“Of
course you can.” He held up the covers and she slipped beneath them, moving
closer to him.
“Jeeze! You’re freezing cold!” Isaac chuckled slightly,
nudging in closer to her and pulling the blankets tightly around them both.
”I know. I just can’t get warm.”
“Really? Okay. Give me a few minutes, ok?” He jumped out
of bed and disappeared from the room.
Christy
laid still for what seemed like ages, trying to build up some body heat, but
Isaac finally returned, pulling the sheets off her and draping something
steaming over her body.
Christy
laughed. It was a heated blanket. “Did you order this from room service? It must have cost a fortune…”
“No,
it’s worth it.” He laughed, nestling into bed next to her.
“So,
what were you thinking about?”
He
wrapped his arms around her waist loosely. “Well, I was thinking about this
whole… us moving in together thing… and I thought maybe the next time we stop
at a hotel, maybe we could… get a room together. As kind of… a practice, you
know?”
Christy
smiled. “Really? That would be great.”
“Yeah,
I mean, I’ve never lived with a girl before… I mean, other than my mom and my
sisters… and well…
Christy
laughed.

Jenna
came out of the bedroom the next morning, whistling.
She
has been up an hour earlier than normal, dressed and packed her bag. She
brushed her hair and pinned it up in a high pony-tail.
She
found Becky slouched on the sofa, still in her pajamas.
“Hey, Beck.” Jenna said, cheerily.
“Hey,”
Becky replied, helping herself to another chip.
”Everything ok?” Jenna leaned on the back of the sofa.
“Yeah, why?”
“You’re
eating dill pickle chips for breakfast. And you hate dill pickle chips.”
Becky
sighed and lowered the bag from her lap. “Nothing. I’m
just worried about Zac and I… You know? The tour ends
in a month and I’m worried that we’re never going to see each other again.”
”Oh, honey…” Jen walked around the sofa and plopped down on the sofa next to
Becky. “I’m sure that everything will work out.” She hugged Becky tightly.
“Have you talked to him?”
“Not
yet… he acts like he’s not even thinking about it. Like it doesn’t even matter
that I may be out of his life forever.”
“Maybe
he’s just been busy, the tour has been pretty hectic, maybe
he’s trying to figure out what to do…”
The
door opened and Zac came in. Becky and Jenna dropped their embrace and Jenna
stood. “Uhh… I think I’ll take a walk… I’ll catch up
with you later?”
Becky nodded.
