Chapter
thirty one:
Whilst
the guys played video games in the back lounge of the bus, Christy watched.
Becky
and Jenna were situated in the front lounge.
Jenna
was lying on her back on the floor holding her book open above her in an
attempt to find a comfortable position in which to read. Becky was sitting a
few feet away painting her toenails.
“So?”
Becky inquired, “Tell me all the juicy details of your date last night.”
Jenna
laughed. “What do you want to know?”
“Everything! What did you do? How did it go?”
“Well,
after we robbed the liquor store and stole a car, the night was pretty much
over so we called a cab.”
Zac
came into the front of the bus and got himself a bottle of water.
Becky
rolled her eyes. “That’s boring. Did you kiss him?”
“Yeah.”
“More than once?”
“Yeah.”
“Was
he any good?”
Zac
choked on his bottle of water and both Becky and Jenna eyed him curiously.
“Are
you alright?” Becky questioned.
“Yeah,”
he coughed dryly. “You girls talk about stuff like that?”
“Stuff
like what?” Jenna inquired.
“Well…
like… kissing and stuff… I mean, I didn’t know…”
Becky
smiled. “Of course we do. We tell each other everything.”
“Yeah.” Jenna agreed, sitting up. “We talk about you
all the time.”
“You
do?” He asked nervously.
“Only
good stuff, though.” Becky giggled.
“Okay.
Good…”
“Don’t
you tell your friends all the juicy details?”
“No…
but maybe I should.”
Both
girls bust out in fits of laughter.
This
caused the girls to laugh harder.

Isaac
was laying across the sofa in the back lounge. He was sprawled out on the cushions with his
left arm tucked beneath his head.
He
was now watching a cheesy black and white science fiction movie. It wasn’t even
in English. It did have subtitles, although the graphics were terrible. It
still beat watching MTV any day.
He
looked up at Christy who glanced briefly at him, then back down at the sketchpad
she was scribbling on.
He
watched carefully as she did it again, and continued.
“C?
What are you doing?” He asked curiously.
“Nothing.” She answered shyly, hugging the book to her
chest. Finally she said. “Want to see?”
“Yeah.” He replied honestly.
She
untangled herself from her odd sitting position and crossed the bus, perching herself
on the sofa next to him. He draped his right arm around her and pulled her
closer into his body.
She
held up the sketch book so he could see her new drawing. She had drawn him in
the position he was in at that moment. Her sketch was perfect down to every detail
and looked almost like a photograph in pencil.
“You’re
drawing me again.”
“You’re
very photogenic.” She smiled.
“You’re really talented.” He said, slightly awestruck.
“Really?” She asked
shyly, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“Yeah, really. If I hadn’t known any better, I would have
thought this was done on a computer or something.”
She
smiled at that, and leaned back against his arm and the arm of the sofa,
curling her knees into his body. “I have more. I stopped drawing but I started
again… since I met you. I guess I’ve been inspired.” She smiled, and flipped
the page where she had sketched a picture of him from the previous night’s
concert. His eyes were closed and he looked really into the music.
“Wow,
you’re so good at that! You could be an artist.”
Christy
laughed. “No way, I’m not that good.”
“I
think you are.” He pulled her closer.
……………………………………………………………………………
Jenna and Becky wandered into a clothing store which was playing loud music.
Jenna
paused to admire a display of large wooden bracelets which were carved and
painted in different designs.
Becky
paused at a rack of jeans.
Zac, Luke and Taylor had gone to a store nearby to look at video games and
Becky had wanted to take the opportunity to ask Jen a few questions.
She
paused to look at a rack of jeans. After a second, Jenna joined her, also
flipping through the rack.
Becky
looked around to make sure neither Zac nor Taylor were in earshot, then said;
“Jen? Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Have
you gotten any… weird letters?”
Jenna
stopped flipping through the rack immediately. “Why? Have you?”
Becky
nodded. “A really mean one. It was awful!”
“I
got an email. What did yours say?”
“We
know who you are. We want you to leave the tour or you will get hurt. Accidents
happen.” Becky had memorized it. She had read it at least a hundred times over.
Jenna said. “Mine said that too. Word for word…”
“Do
you think Christy has gotten anything?”
“I
don’t know. She hasn’t said… where was yours?”
“I
found it in my purse. Someone must have slipped it in there while I was in the
crowd at the concert the other night… that’s the only way I think it could have
gotten there.”
”Hmmm…” Jenna mused. “I don’t know… We
can’t very well go to the police or anything, because it’s most likely just a
prank…”
“Yeah…
its still scary though.”
“I
know. It scared me too… but what can we do, right?”
“Should
we tell the guys?”
“You
can… but it’s probably just a prank by some teeny-bopper whores trying to scare
us away.”
Becky
drew in a deep breath. “I don’t think I’m going to tell Zac. I don’t want him
to worry.”
