Chapter two hundred and fifty six:

Becky had taken a hot bath.

She had wanted to relax, but shortly after she sunk into the steaming hot water, Zac was banging on the door to hurry her along.

She had planned to spend the few moments alone to call and find out about Christy, but her cell had been lost in the fire and Isaac’s was off.

She couldn’t even comprehend the idea of everything that had been lost in the fire.

On the way to the hotel, Becky, Jen, Luke, Zac and the body guard had made a quick detour to Wal-Mart, only to pick up the necessities, to get enough clothes for the next couple of days. She and Jen had picked out clothes they could share if necessary, multiple pieces that they could mix and match. They had picked out a few things they thought Christy would like as well.

Finally, Becky climbed out of the tub and pulled on her new pair of pajamas, slipped her feet into her new slippers and walked out into the small hotel room, where Zac immediately stood from his chair.

The hotel wasn’t nearly as extravagant as the others, it was two separate rooms, but the bedroom was smaller than most, with just a bed, two nightstands, and a small closet in it. The first room was a multipurpose room, with a tiny sink and fridge in it. There were two plush arm chairs around a small circular table, a television and a loveseat which was an awful shade of sea-foam green and was stiff as a board to sit on. Every other room was the same, with the exception of a tea kettle that Luke had specifically requested for Jen in their room. Even the incredibly ugly art piece above the bed was the same.

He put his arms around her, hugging her tightly.

Becky didn’t want to be babied, but she was grateful for the hug and wasn’t going to turn it down.

“Isaac called.” He admitted, holding her tightly.

“Oh my god, is-“

“The baby is fine. Christy is fine.” He said immediately, not letting her pull away from his embrace. “They’re on their way here. I’ve got to take you to Jen’s room, we’re going to talk.”

“We?”

“I mean us, Luke, my brothers, and Jimmy.” Zac clarified. “You girls should all be in one room.”

“Okay.” Becky nodded.

He hugged her tighter for a brief moment, before releasing her and taking her hand tightly in his.

She found it cute that he was being so protective of her now. She followed him across the hall. He knocked softly, and the door opened and Taylor appeared.

“Luke back yet?” Zac asked.

“No, he’s gone down to use the shower in the gym. The hotel opened the showers in the swimming pool and gym locker rooms for the people from the other hotel.” Jimmy clarified, opening the door wider so Becky could pass.

She promptly climbed into the king sized bed in the dark room with Jen, but continued to listen to the conversation, barely audible over the television. Jen was clearly listening too.

“Okay,” Zac was saying. “We’re going to have a meeting to decide what to do here, Ike is on his way back.”

“Alright.” Taylor said. “Lets talk in the hall, so we don’t disturb the girls, okay?” Taylor grabbed the room key and moved out into the hall, closing the door behind him.

Becky and Jen exchanged glances under the light of the television. “Christy and the baby are fine.”

“I heard.” Jen replied, then wrapped her arms around Becky in a loose embrace. “I’m so relieved.”

“Me too…” Becky paused. “What do you think they’re talking about?”

“Us.” Jen replied.
