Chapter twenty five:
Christy
found Isaac in his hotel room folding his new purchases and placing them neatly
in a suitcase.
She
knocked gently on his open door before crossing the room and sitting on the
edge of the bed.
“All
packed?” He asked.
She
nodded. “We leave tomorrow night, right? So there’s still plenty of time to
pack and unpack, right?”
“True.”
He said. “I just like to get it out of the way.” He closed his suitcase and
crossed the room, sitting next to her.
“So,
what are we doing tomorrow?”
“Well,
we have a sound check and some phone interviews then a concert. But you girls
don’t have to hang around all day, but we’ll be leaving straight from the venue
for the next tour stop, so it might be a good idea to at least get settled
before you go off and… do girl stuff.”
Christy
laughed at that. “Girl stuff? What exactly does that
mean?”
“I
don’t know… shopping?”
She
laughed harder. “What did we do today?”
“Well,
it’s different with girls, right?”
“Okay…
well, we do need to have our nails done… I was going to make an appointment…”
“That
sounds nice… I mean, for you guys.” He smiled.
She
rested her head on his shoulder. “Tell me about it, my nails are a mess.” She
held up her hands in front of her.
“I
think they look pretty. Like you.” He gently took her hand.
Christy
smiled. “You’re so sweet.”
“Yeah,
that was a little corny, hmm?” He
brought their hands to his lips and gently kissed the back of her hand.
“Okay,
what are we doing tonight, then?” Christy asked with a smile.
“Well,
I made reservations for dinner…”
“You’re
kidding!” She smiled broadly.
“No,
I’m not kidding. I thought we could just hang out alone tonight, and have a
nice romantic dinner just the two of us.”
She
hugged him tightly. “It’ll be perfect.”

“Can
we stop here?” Jenna asked, pausing outside a coffee shop in the mall.
“Of course. I’d love a coffee right now.” Luke smiled.
Jenna
was again caught off-guard at how handsome he was
They
approached the counter and waited silently behind a woman who was ordering a
coffee and a muffin.
Luke said a quick ‘hello’ to the salesclerk and graciously let Jenna order
first. Jenna ordered a green tea and Luke ordered a coffee.
While
they waited for their order, Jenna noticed how he had barely paid any attention
to the woman behind the counter. His attention was fully on Jenna, whereas any
other guy would have been drooling all over themselves at the busty salesclerk.
“So,
tell me something else about you.” Luke offered, paying for their order and
carefully handing Jenna her tea.
“Like
what?” Jenna asked as he followed her from the coffee-shop.
“Do
you have any brother’s or sisters?”
“Yeah,
I have a brother, he’s five years younger. You?”
“I
have six sisters, and I’m the youngest. You got off lightly.” He laughed.
“I
guess so.” Jenna smiled. “Tell me something about you.”
“Uhh… hmm…” He stalled, taking a sip of his coffee. “I hate
spinach.”
Jenna
laughed. “Actually, me too. But that’s not what I
meant.”
”I know. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. What do you want to know?”
“Anything…”
“Okay…
I’m a math nerd, I love math and finance and crap like
that.” He said. “I’m thinking about going to college for a degree in business…”
“That’s
great.”
“What
about you? What are your future goals?”
“I
don’t know.” Jenna answered, “I like drama and history and English… I was
thinking about teaching, but I don’t know. I’m still young.”
“True.”
Luke said. “Okay, tell me what you do for fun.”
“For fun? Um… read, write… I like nature hikes and stuff
like that. I’m not really into heavy sports, but sometimes they’re okay.”
Luke
nodded. “Well, I like reading, and nature and sports… so we’re on the same
page.” He smiled warmly.
“Isn’t
it weird?” She began.
“How
we have so much in common?” He finished.
”Yeah… it’s like… cosmic. Like fate… not that I believe in that crap.”
“Me
either… but I think I’m going to start.” He took her hand firmly.

Zac
followed Becky into her hotel room.
Becky
neatly removed her flip-flops and placed them neatly by the closet door.
She
smiled at him. “Well, what now?”
“Umm…
well, what do you want to do?”
“I
don’t know. We could hang out? We’ve been walking all day, so we could just…
hang out?”
“Alright, sure.”
“Just
let me use the washroom and fix my hair and I’ll meet you in your room?”
“Sure.”
He said, although he wasn’t exactly sure what was wrong with her hair, but he
wasn’t about to argue. Instead, he went to his room and picked up a dirt-bike
magazine.
Before
he knew it, Becky climbed onto his bed next to him.
Her
hair was pulled up into a pony-tail, and she tucked a few stray wisps of hair
from her face.
“Hey,”
He smiled, put aside his magazine.
“Hey.”
Becky laughed, hugging her knees tightly.
“So,
another concert tomorrow night… Are you excited?” He stretched out across the
bed on his back, folding his arms behind his head.
“Of
course I’m excited. I’ve only seen you play once and that was in 1998.”
“Really? You were a fan back then?”
“It
was only two years ago. And I’ve been a fan from the beginning!”
“Really? Who was your favorite?”
Becky
smiled. “I’m not telling.”
He
pouted which caused her to laugh harder.
“Okay,
then what did you like about us?”
“About who?”
“About the band.”
“Well…
I don’t know, you were talented, and of course you were like… total hotties.” She laughed. “I don’t know. I just saw something
in you three and then when I got your album it was like… something that changed
my life. I know it’s silly, but when my parents weren’t around and I was
feeling lonely, I could put on your CD and it would make me feel happy again…
is that pathetic?”
“No.”
He smiled. “I think that’s what music is supposed to do.”
Becky
laughed, “Anyway, sob story aside, your music rocks and I’m excited about the
tour.”
