Chapter
twenty six:
Jenna
returned from spending the entire day with Luke. They had shopped and just hung
around until going to see a movie and having a late dinner.
She
loved every minute of it, and the more time she spent with him, the more she
liked him.
She
left her platform flip-flops at the door and made her way through the dark hotel
room which she was sharing with Christy and Becky.
She
pushed open the door and found Becky sitting up in the middle of her bed in her
pajamas with a book open on her lap.
Christy was folded on the carpet painting her toenails.
When
she opened the door, both Becky and Christy looked up and asked in unison “How
was it?”
Jenna
couldn’t hide a smile. “Uhh… okay.”
“Really? Just okay?” Becky
inquired. “I liked Luke. He’s cute and funny and smart and…”
“Well,
I haven’t met him, but he sounds great. Especially if he’s
cute.” Christy observed.
Jenna
put down her purse. “I like him. I mean, this whole day has been like perfect.
I don’t believe in ‘love at first sight’ or anything, but he’s so… amazing.”
Jenna sighed. “I know I’m probably acting like an idiot here, and I’ll probably
end up getting hurt but… I can’t help it. I like him.”
“That’s
good!” Becky said, then turned to Christy. “They’re
perfect for each other.”
“Good.”
Jenna
sighed. “It seems that way, but I just don’t want to get hurt.”
“I
doubt he’d hurt you. Zac said he likes you.”
Jenna
smiled privately to herself. “I like him too.”
“Did
you kiss him?” Christy asked.
Jenna
blushed slightly. “Yeah, just now. In the hallway.”
”Aw… that’s cute.” Becky laughed.
Jenna
swallowed, her smile slowly disappearing.
She gathered her pajamas and disappeared into the joint bathroom. “I
guess we’ll see how things go tomorrow.”
“Oooh…” Christy groaned.
“No,
no! That doesn’t mean anything.” Becky said optimistically.
Jenna returned to the room and slipped into bed. “Lets not talk about it, okay?
Let’s just get some sleep.”
All
three girls looked up at the sound of a knock at the door. “Christy? Can I see
you for a minute?” Isaac asked.
“Of
course, baby.” Christy got up from the floor, adjusting her pajama bottoms.

Christy
followed Isaac from her room, closing the door behind her quietly as the light
clicked out.
She
smiled up at him and followed him back to his room.
“I
thought maybe you could sleep with me tonight… I mean, sleep. Not…” He cleared
his throat. “I mean, I kind of miss the whole sleeping in the same bed thing,
you know?” He sat on the edge of his bed. “I was hoping you wouldn’t mind…”
Christy
smiled, finding his whole request unbelievably cute. “Of course I don’t mind.”
He
smiled. “Okay, great. Give me a second to brush my teeth?”
She
nodded.
He
got up and left the room.
Christy
climbed into the right side of his bed, knowing he could only sleep on the left
side. She slipped under the blankets and folded down his side of the bed.
She
picked up his book from the side of the bed and flipped it over in her hands.
It was some nerdy science fiction book, which was dorky but she found it
incredibly cute on his part.
“That’s
actually a really good book.” Isaac said, coming into the room. He dropped his
clothes into a hamper. “I know sci-fi is incredibly nerdy, but the book is
good.” He sat down on the edge of the bed and reached up to tuck a strand of
her hair behind her ear. “You’re pretty.”
Christy
smiled at that. “You’re sweet.”
“I
mean it. I mean…” He sighed. “This whole thing has been going so fast but I
like it… I like you.” He smiled.
“Aww… baby… I like you too…” She cooed and leaned forward to
kiss him.
He
smiled when the kiss broke. “I suppose we should get some sleep because it’s an
early morning tomorrow?”
She
nodded. “Good plan.”
He
got up from the bed and turned off the light, before making his way through the
darkness and to his side of the bed. Christy waited until he settled into his
usual sleeping position before curling up next to him.
His
arm circled her body warmly and she felt safe again.
She
rested her head on his chest and sighed heavily.
“Good
night, C.” He whispered.
“Night, baby.” She replied.

Becky
found Zac standing in the lobby of the hotel the next morning. She swooped in and
stood on her toes in front of him, reaching up to kiss him.
Zac
smiled and bent to kiss her lips. “This is the best way to start the day.”
“What
is?” Becky asked with a smile, her hands lingering on his abdomen.
“Getting a kiss from you.”
Becky
smiled wider. “You’re sweet, Zac.”
He
shrugged. “Today is going to be an awesome day. A concert, a sound check, some
phone interviews and my favorite girlfriend is going to be there.”
Becky
narrowed her eyes. “I’d better be your only girlfriend.”
Zac
laughed at that. “Of course you are!”
“Good.
Are you almost ready to go? I think I heard Isaac say that the bus was out
front.”
”I’m ready, are you?”
“Yeah,
packed and everything. My stuff is on the bus.”
“Good.”
He smiled. “What about breakfast?”
“Umm…
I usually don’t eat breakfast in the morning. I have a weak stomach.”
“Oh…
okay.”
“Besides,
most breakfast foods are not really in my diet. Breakfast is full of bad carbs
and gross calories.”
“Um… alright.” Zac didn’t even know what carbs or calories
were, but he dismissed it as a girl thing. “Come on.” He took her hand. “Can I
just say one thing first?”
“Sure,
what’s that?” She asked.
“You
look really pretty today.”
Becky’s
face lit up. “You’re so sweet!” She hugged him tightly.
He
didn’t want her to, but finally she pulled away from his embrace and tugged at
his hand. “Come on, I don’t want your brothers to be mad at us. And I really
have to press Jenna for more details from her date last night.”
“Yeah? How did that go?”
“Good,
I think. He kissed her.” She declared almost proudly.
Zac
chuckled. “Way to go Luke!”
