Chapter two hundred and forty-six:

While Zac was in the shower, Becky powered up her laptop and spent several minutes in various Hanson forums, looking for a link to the site she had found before.

When that method failed her, she tried to google her own name. After going through several sites about and by various people named Rebecca Carter, she tried typing in her name with Zac’s, and still found nothing.

She was starting to feel better about being out in public. Whatever site that had existed before had truly been taken down now, and as far as she could tell was not back up and floating around the internet.

She sighed with relief and surfed through Hanson.net looking at a few fan photos from the show. Thankfully, she wasn’t in any of them.

“What are you looking at?” Zac’s voice came suddenly from behind her.

Becky jumped, nearly spilling the laptop onto the floor.

“Sorry.” He couldn’t help but chuckle as he placed a hand warmly on her shoulder.

“God, Zac. You scared me!” She looked up at him, trying to normalize her breathing. Her heart was beating a mile a minute.

“Sorry.” He smiled. “Are those pictures from tonight?”

“Yeah,” She smiled, adjusting the screen so he could see the pictures.

“They’re up already?”

“Yeah, your fans are quick.”

“No kidding.” He laughed. “Some good shots though.”

“Yeah, I know. I’m saving some of them; maybe I’ll put together a photo album or something.”

He laughed. “Alright.”

“Are you on your way to bed?” She asked, powering down her computer and placing it on the coffee table.

“Actually, I’m kind of hungry. I think I could go for something to eat.”

“All our food is on the bus.” She shrugged. “I think there’s a granola bar in my purse though…”

“Actually… I think there’s a McDonalds down the street. We could walk and get a meal or something.”

“You want to eat a big greasy meal this late at night?” She asked in disbelief. “You’ll have nightmares. And heartburn.” She warned.

He shrugged. “Come on, it’ll be a nice little walk for us.”

“Buy me a sundae?”

He grinned. “Of course.”

She stood and grabbed her purse.

Zac found his wallet in his left shoe, and hastily pushed it into his back pocket. He shoved his feet into his shoes and looked around the room briefly, muttering “Where did I put my room key?”

“I’ve got mine.” Becky spoke up. “Don’t worry about it.”

“Okay, great.” He smiled and held open the door.

Becky walked through the door and into the hall and adjusted her purse on her shoulder.

Zac pulled the door closed behind them. He took her hand and led the way to the elevator.

Once outside, Becky paused and drew in a deep breath. It was a beautiful night, slightly chilly but still mild for October.

“Becca?” Zac asked with a smile. “It’s this way.”

She smiled and slipped her hand into his. “Isn’t it a beautiful night, Zaccy?” She asked, moving closer to him.

“It is nice.” He smiled down at her. “Are you cold?”

“No,” She replied, but released his hand and pulled his arm around her shoulders instead. He briskly rubbed her shoulder.

She put her arm around his body. “This is nice, I’m glad we’re going for a walk… even if it is to a McDonalds.”

Zac laughed. “Yeah.” He added, looking up between the towering buildings of the downtown core. “It would be nice though if we could see the stars.”

Becky smiled and stood on her toes to kiss his cheek.
