Chapter twenty-one:
Becky,
Jenna, Zac and Taylor were going to a party at the home of some people
She pulled on a faded pair of jeans and a spaghetti strap shirt. It was fitted
at the bust with cute floral stitching and was loose and tapered around the
waist. She combed her hair into a high pony tail and was applying the last coat
of lip gloss in the mirror when Zac appeared.
”Hey, Becca… wow, you look great.” He smiled.
She returned his smile brightly, “Thank you.”
”I mean it, you look really pretty.” He said softly.
”Thanks… are you ready?”
”Yeah. What about Jenna?”
”What about me?” Jenna asked walking into the room.
”Are you ready?” Becky asked.
”Yeah.” She shrugged. “I guess.”
”Okay, lets go.” Zac said.
They found
”Kids? Hardly,
Becky slipped her hand into Zac’s and followed him out towards the car.

Christy
had hit it off amazingly well with Isaac’s friends. She felt entirely
comfortable even when his friends’ girlfriends dragged her off to the dance
floor.
Isaac stood back and chatted with his friends on the upper level of the club,
watching his girlfriend twist and sway to the music.
He couldn’t keep a smile from his lips, knowing that she was having such a good
time and knowing that she was way hotter than any of his friends’ girlfriends.
After three or four songs, the girls grouped back together and started towards
them. Isaac turned away from the dance floor and back into his friend’s
conversation. They were arguing about some college football thing, which he
didn’t particularly care for.
Christy and the remainder of the girls appeared chatting and laughing in their
own conversation.
Christy took a seat next to Isaac. He promptly put his arm around her waist and
leaned closer and asked her if she was enjoying herself.
She smiled broadly. “I’m having a great time.”
“Do
you want anything?”
“Maybe
some water…” She smiled.
”Okay, come on.” He followed her towards the bar, keeping her close so they
wouldn’t get separated. He ordered her water and a can of dr. pepper for
himself.
He circled his arm around her hips, “Wait,” He smiled, “I want a second alone
with you.”
She smiled and let him pull her into his arms in a tight embrace. She giggled.
“I’m really having a great time.”
”Me too. My friends like you, you know?”
She blushed slightly. “Will you dance with me?”
”Oh no…” He chuckled. “I’m a terrible dancer!”
She pouted. “Please?”
”Come on… Christy…”
”Please?” She kissed him slowly.
”C…”
”Please, baby?” She cooed.
He laughed finally. “Okay, fine.”

Jenna made her way through the crowded house party. She had arrived with Becky
and Zac, but had broken off to be on her own.
Someone was passing out mixed drinks and she lifted two from the tray, holding
one glass in each hand. She downed both, one after the other and enjoyed the
pleasant burn of the liquid as it made its way down into her stomach.
She had already had more drinks than she could count, however she still felt like
she needed more.
She wandered into the kitchen and helped herself to a beer. She shut the fridge
door and turned abruptly, crashing into a body.
She drunkenly reached to get it back.
”How many have you had?”
She swayed slightly. “One or two…”
He knew she was lying immediately.
”Why don’t you split this one with me, Jen?”
”No!” She protested, “Get your own!”
”You’re drunk.” He caught her wrist.
”I am not!” She defended. “Lets dance!”
she stumbled and burst out laughing.
”I think you’re too tipsy. Why don’t we go outside for some air?”
”Okay.” She led the way out of the kitchen, but stopped and turned back towards
the fridge. “Let me get a drink first!”
”No, Jen. Come on!” He turned her around again and practically pushed
her out into the back yard.
”I can walk!” Jenna jerked her arm from his grasp, and walked away from him.
She stumbled in the grass and nearly fell over.
”Whoa!” He grasped her around the waist and hoisted
her up. “Why the hell did you have to do this again?” He demanded.
”What?” She asked. “This is your fault!”
”How is this my fault?” He argued. “I didn’t make you
drink!” He released her and she fell into the grass in a sitting position.
”You’re the one who kept kissing me!” She yelled. “You’re the one who said you
liked me and now I don’t know how to feel!”
He sighed and plopped down next to her. “Jen… I don’t know what to do here.
I’ve never liked anyone who didn’t like me back before…”
She leaned forward suddenly and kissed him.
Finally
when the kiss broke, he spoke. “Jen… I thought you just wanted to be friends.”
”Just kiss me.” She said leaning forward.
He
stopped her. “I can’t. You’re drunk.”
She groaned out loud in frustration. “You see? All you men are the same!” She
stood and stormed back towards the party.
”Jen, wait!”
