Chapter one hundred and ninety- two:

Christy was up early and tip-toed into the kitchen, where she switched on the coffee maker and sat down with a bowl of yogurt and strawberries. When she finished her breakfast, and Isaac still wasn’t awake, she poured a cup of coffee for him and brought it into the bedroom.

“Isaac, honey?” She crossed the room and pushed open the curtains, letting the bright sunlight shine in and cast a square of light across the bed.

Isaac groaned in protest and folded his arm over his eyes to block out the intrusion of light.

Christy crossed to the bed and placed the coffee mug on the nightstand and sat cross-legged next to him. “Ike, baby?” She moved his arm off his face.

He groaned tiredly. “What time is it?”

“It’s almost 11:30.”

“Wow, that’s pretty late.” He smiled.

“I know. I think it’s time you get up, don’t you?”

“Maybe.”

“I brought you a coffee.”

“That’s why I’m marrying you.” He teased.

She laughed. “”Can you believe we’re getting married tomorrow? It seems so soon.”

“I know. Are you having second thoughts?”

“Not a chance. You’re stuck with me for life.” She teased.

“Good.” He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back into bed, pinning her down so she was lying next to him.

She laughed.

“I think you should come back to bed.”

“It doesn’t look like I have a choice.” She teased.

“Nope. I think we should consider spending the whole day in bed.”

Christy laughed again. “I thought we were going to spend the whole honey moon in bed.”

“Well, that’s a given.” He teased, kissing her cheek. “I guess I should get up and shower-“

“And shave.” She ran her knuckles along his scruffy cheek.

“That too.” He lowered his head and nuzzled her neck, causing her to giggle and squirm.

“And we’re supposed to drop by your parents house because your brother’s are having a pool party. And then there’s the rehearsal dinner tonight.”

Right, and I’ve got a little surprise of my own.”

“Yeah? What’s that?” She bit her lower lip.

“You’ll see.”

“Honey, you don’t have to! You’re surprising me with a honey moon and-“

“This is different.”

“But you already spoil me too much-“

“I want to.”

Christy smiled. “Then I’ll have to make it up to you.”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Becky and Jen were sitting in lounge chairs, tanning in the unusually warm weather.

Becky was reclined and reading an issue of ‘People’ magazine, while Jenna was applying another layer of sunscreen.

Zac and Luke had gone into the kitchen to look for cold drinks and snacks.

Luke was standing at the window holding a stack of towels watching the girls through the glass doors.

“Can’t keep your eyes off her, can you?” Zac asked, as he searched through the pantry for any kind of chips other than plain.

“No… I just… I never realized how much I missed her, you know?” Luke turned with a half smile. “Am I pathetic or what?”

“No, you’re in love.” Zac shrugged.

“I know, and I think that’s what scared me away the first time. I just…. Don’t want to let her go this time.”

“Then don’t.” Zac rummaged through the fridge for cold cokes.

Luke nodded and was silent for a couple of minutes. “I haven’t kissed her yet. Is that weird?”

“No. Sometimes it takes a little while to get back to the level of intimacy, right? I know sometimes when Becky and I fight, I never quite know when she’s okay with me kissing her. “

“So I should kiss her…”

“Yeah. I mean, when you feel the timing is right.”

“Okay. I’ll carry the cokes.” Luke lifted the six pack under one arm and the towels under the other. He followed Zac out onto the patio, putting the cokes down on the table, selecting two. He handed one to Becky, who politely thanked him, and passed the second to Jenna. He lowered himself onto the foot of her lounge chair.

“What? Don’t sit down!” Zac protested. “We’re going in the pool!”

Luke laughed and glanced at Jen. “Maybe in a bit.”

“Well, I’m not going in the pool by myself.”

“Why not?” Becky laughed.

Zac shrugged. “What about you? Are you going to sit in the sun all day?”

“Part of the day.” She put her coke down. “I may go in the pool a bit later.”

“I think you should come in the pool with me.”

“Umm… no.” Becky laughed.

“Come on!”

“No.” She teased.

“Yeah, I think you’re going in,” He quickly scooped her up and carried her, as she kicked and shrieked to the edge of the pool.

She squirmed to get away, but before she could, he jumped, sending them both into the water.

Jen sat foreword on the chair and placed her hand on Luke’s thigh.

“Don’t worry.” He laughed. “I wont’ throw you in.”

“You better not.”
